Are you not a fan of a close race then???

Max was on the limit, Hamilton looks shell shocked at how hard Max was prepared to go.

Small margins and that one may just make the difference.

So predictable, just pushed too hard . . .silly boy should have known he got away with one early in the lap and was up . . . All he had to do was maintain previous. Cooked the golden goose.

Race will be interesting I'm sure

Anyway, there's a proper race in proper cars at a proper place on tonight.

They were all on the limit. The experienced mature drivers don't go over the limit twice.

Don't worry. Bottas will let him past on lap 1.

Hamilton pole, max in the wall …… pressure… all about the pressure.

He knows if he gets pole, he has every chance of winning the race and takes off the pressure, and can cruise around the next race, he was very close to doing that.
Put hamilton in the same position, he could easily have done the same.

I have heard Bottas has a bonus coming his way if he does as he is told.

Down to strategy and crashes to make this one interesting tomorrow.

I can see Max having to take a new gearbox / 5 place penalty- even if it’s just precautionary.

Remember when Leclerc has his quali ‘accident’ into the wall at Monaco- Ferarri didn’t change the gearbox because they didn’t want the penalty, then on Sunday Leclerc got like one lap done before he realised his gearbox was gone and had to retire.

Can’t see Red Bull risking that - they have too much to lose?

Max again drove the wheels off that car. Brilliant lap, his steering wheel would have flashed the purples - but it is the pressure that he chose to push so hard in those final corners when he had pole in the bag to just finish that lap as his others previously. He had it done, inexplicable he missed his breaking in that final turn. Could have a gear box penalty by tomorrow…

The F2 race has just finished - surprised how many overtaking opportunities there were on that track - mind you a number of safety cars and VSCs - the walls took plenty of victims, 7 DNFs.

If tomorrow’s race is anywhere near as attritional then I can’t see either LH or MV getting away from the rest of the field for long thanks to safety cars.

Red Bull are not going to replace the gear box, let’s hope for them it’s not a repeat of the recent Ferrari decision that backfired on the warm up lap.
Start is going to be fun and not just Max v Lewis, Leclerc lines up alongside Max which I think could spell trouble. Bound to be a safety car or more during the race so playing the long game could be key. Really looking forward to this.

Agree with the safety car comment, it could also throw a surprise result in if teams can pit at opportune times. Could be a real lottery.

I like Leclerc. He is part of that elite group of drivers along with Hamilton, Verstappen, Russell, Alonso and Vettel.

It’s in his interest to get his elbows out and not be a pushover if any Mercedes or Bulls find themselves behind him because it makes a statement about his attitude and quality for next year (see Alonso’s astonishing defence under attack from Hamilton earlier in the season).

Is that a definitive statement from RB? Kind of surprised they’ve said that early and not kept teams guessing until the last minute.

To be fair widely reported (I should have made that clear) also reported that they tested it for four hours after qualifying and felt there were no problems. We will know for certain in a few hours.

Apparently Red Bull are appealing the decision on the yellow flag for LH.
Sad gits.
