DRS train…. Same old Sochi.

TBF this has been a better race than usual there.
More overtaking by some drivers.
You can see why Bottas lost his seat.
He and Max start at the back.
Max is 7th Bottas is 14th about 17 seconds behind.

Gutted for Norris, great drive.

It was, how the feck did he not bin it.

Great talent, without the rain, I am convinced he would have held on and beaten Lewis, he was in the zone for sure.

Max, was the real winner today, this season gets better and better.

Not sure how a driver who started on pole and then refused to come in for inters and ends up 8th gets driver of the day

Gutted for him but….surely it should have been Max who got driver of the day, though it pains me to say it

They've got a lot wrong at times this season, but Mercedes have absolutely aced that strategy call there with Hamilton, McLaren perhaps a bit naïve in ignoring the radar and sticking with Lando's call.

Jammy Max somehow gets away with it again.

Hamilton weakness has always been his head when he is under pressure.

Love lando, a great driver with his feet on the ground he is such a breath of fresh air.

That was LH ten years ago, and Verstappen throughout his young career.

Once LH mastered that, he become the greatest.

100 race wins is obviously an incredible achievement but I wonder if Lewis would have preferred no rain. He would have finished second and so still be stuck on 99 wins but Verstappen was in sixth or seventh so the points gap in the title race would have been bigger.

Jammy Max and not jammy Lewis?

Perhaps giving Hamilton 50 point head start would be fairer for you???

Jammy? What planet are you on? What was vaguely jammy about Lewis’ drive? He had second in the bag and Max was way behind before rain came and Lewis finished nearly a minute ahead of him

Fecking clueless

Norris and McClaren blew that race, get over it

But you forget he was racing in a car that was streets ahead of the other cars, I used to beat everyone at dodgems like that, I was untouchable in car 5, everyone in car 5 won, it was local knowledge.
100 wins on paper looks impressive, take in the whole picture it looks meh.

That race was an absolute classic, only slight bum note is we were denied an on track battle between Norris and Hamilton at the end because of the rain. McLaren probably should have been more forceful in getting Norris to pit, although his inexperience cost him in electing to carry on.

100 wins is incredible, doubt we'll ever see its like again. And, oh look, there's Lewis on top of the pile in a car that isn't as good as the Red Bull..

That said, Norris chucked that away. McLaren didn't need a better weather man, they just needed to insist to Lando that he cover off Lewis's move.

2008 - Ferrari drivers took 2nd & 3rd places.
2017 - Ferrari driver took 2nd place.
2018 - Ferrari drivers took 2nd & 3rd places.

In 2017 and 2018 you could palpably see the pressure Hamilton put them under, Vettel and the team cracking. From memory Ferrari came back after the summer break with a faster car. The relentless destroyer LH was having none of it with his craft and will to win.

Hamilton has won the title in two different teams.

Mercedes wisely wanted the very best, they went and got Hamilton.

It's beause of his astonishing win rate that Mercedes come out top in the manufactures tables.

In changeable conditions, its always noticeable that the top drivers seems to make the best of it. Hamilton and Max 1-2. Alonso bagging an unnoticed 6th, Raikonnen and Russell getting points in slow boat cars. Norris should have won today and that's where Mclaren should have made the decision for him with the radar info rather than the namby pamby "What do you think Lando? like it was some crap focus group on breakfast cereals. Tell him to pit otherwise he will be driving a lorry next year. His time will come though, too good not to win.

It was the easier call for Mercedes to make as 3rd was some 40secs back and they weren’t getting passed Nando at that point so it was a safe pit stop call that at worst kept them 2nd. Much harder for the front runner who once he was undercut wasn’t going to win the race unless he stayed out. Not so much naive, more rock and a hard place I feel.

I’m not sure some people watch the races. On his old first set LH went purple lap after lap, then once he got clean air again, started purples again till he was on Lando’s wing. TV coverage didn’t pick up some excellent overtakes he made while Verstappen got bogged down in the midfield and I think Alonso overtook him.

Max I think would have considered top 6 a good result, and no doubt harmed his tyres getting through the field, but RB had the benefit of an all or nothing gamble call, and to be fair to Max he must have pulled out a couple of flying laps on those inters.

What we do know is the 2 best drivers in the field finished 1 - 2, not just because of rain and strategy, but because in crucial parts of the race they absolutely drive the wheels off their cars.

I thought the coverage was a bit shit at times, so many important overtaking moves missed as they concentrated on other things. Showing 30 secs of Schumacher chatting in the garage having stopped from last place particularly wound me up when there was so much going on on track
