A bit silly from both drivers I thought. Drivers look like they are struggling with this track a bit so could deliver some interest on Sunday.

I’m interested to see what happens in the driver market now with Magnussen, Grosjean and Perez without a 2021 drive.

Personally I would like to see Hulkenberg and Mick Schumacher get a drive in 2021. And would like to see Russell hold on to his- one more season at Williams and then he can take over from Bottas at Mercedes...

Big crash in practice today, Sky’s Herbert 100% blames Verstappen. I can see arguments for either driver.

I agree but I’m blaming Stroll because he’s a Daddy’s Boy and he has been chosen by daddy over Perez for next season.

Blame on both sides for the incident, but Stroll had the racing line and Max should've backed out of it.

In terms of the driver market it sounds like Alfa are going to stick with their current line, Mazapin is going to buy one of the Haas seats and Schumacher will get the other one. I thought Russell was a done deal for the Williams seat but that now sounds in doubt. Only other seat that might come up is alongside Max at Red Bull as Albon looks shot to bits and needs a stellar end to the season to keep his place.

Maybe give Hulk Albon’s seat - and let Albon escape the wrath of C. Horner by retreating back to Alpha Tauri..

Great circuit, different undulations, shame about the drain covers

Reckon Red Bull (Verstappen) have got this, unless Mercedes are sandbagging

I will be shocked if it’s not Hamilton or Bottas on pole [emoji964]

Unsurprisingly Hamilton saves thebest until last. McLarens went well, good lap from Leclerc.

Bit of an oops from Danny Ric, a bit wide and dusty Out there

switching to the mediums was a master stroke from Mercedes

a risk they could afford to take

Hats off too,to Mr Saturday for out qualifying a Ferrari

Small chance of rain tomorrow morning

If so that new asphalt will be like a skating rink

Although I am a big Lewis fan I am genuinely feeling sorry for Bottas, he is proving to be very very close to Hamilton in quali and constantly losing out by fractions of a second. I was so impressed with Lewis on his last lap, he must just suck the confidence out of you, he just keeps pulling it off when it matters

If Mercedes can’t look after Russell perhaps they’d release him, it would be great to see him in a Red Bull

I always feel sorry for Bottas, he’s a great pro who never whines or gets involved in politics. The analysts on Sky always say the same thing .... he lacks that killer instinct. Small margins, LH has everything.

But not too sorry ... a multi, multi millionaire paying next to know tax in Monaco, in the career of his dreams, in the best team, a career full of podium finishes. Not a bad life.

You do wonder what Bottas could do in another car, but there are some very clever heads in that team and Toto is the cleverest every time. With Bottas constantly pushing Lewis to his racing limits, and you can relax on the rest of his interests

(but age will even catch up with Toto, eventually. You can only maintain that sort of level for a relatively short time)

Toto has intimated or not denied on several occasions that he’s weighing up a sabbatical. I thinking of him as a Dave Brailsford figure, both highly intelligent perfectionists, respected by their teams, no egos.

He’s only 48, for the sake of LH and the British based team, I hope he stays on for a long time.

I hope I'm wrong because I really like the circuit

But with the blind crests,it could be very dangerous for the first couple of laps

Pit lane entry and exit looks a bit hairy too

Bundle made a comment on it

That some amateur drivers there have spun, then got going again going the wrong way

Bottas did pretty well for Williams pre-Mercedes so there's little doubt that he's right up there amongst the very best drivers.

He's also had more than his share of bad luck in my opinion but LH is so good that I reckon only Verstappen could match and, possibly, surpass him if he had a Mercedes to race in.

Love to see it happen......!

When you consider the gap Verstappen consistently has over Albon, you know Bottas is doing an exceptional job to be pushing our GOAT to pulling 100ths out on final laps.

There was an historic race meeting there a few weeks ago, there are a few areas where there is no obvious reference point . . . . And some of the historic racers are pretty historic themselves.

Exactly, and Hamilton openly admits that he is being pushed in qualifying. He even had to outthink Bottas yesterday to get pole

To be fair Albon seems to be used as a bit of a test driver for Verstappen’s benefit- they keep sending him out on a different tyre strategy etc just to see what works and what doesn’t to help inform Max’s choices.

I’m not convinced Albon is a top level driver but he does get dicked around by RB.
