Doesn’t score goals doesn’t mean he ‘can’t hit a cows arse’ - 2 different things essentially. You’ve gone OTT on his shooting from the start and that’s why you’re getting a lot of disagreements in this thread - just from where I’m sitting..

He’s a brilliant footballer and not particularly a goal scorer - he’s doing just fine.

My critics and dissenters have missed my point entirely. This season he has blazed numerous decent chances over the bar or round the post. My original point, long ago forgotten by my detractors, is that, with that type of skill, he would b better off looking for a pass rather than a shot nearly every time.

“I was in five or six positions in the final third against Everton where I have hesitated and made the wrong decision at an important time. We've all got to work so that when we're in those positions we make the right call.

“It will come, I am convinced. We're still gelling and we're on the right road but we need to keep improving.”

Not many people are prepared to criticise themselves for the greater good. He is. Kudos.

And this from a man who was MoM or damn close behind Biss.

I thought this when I read those quotes too. What a great player and squad member to have around. Brilliant

well yes, but shouldn't he have learnt by now? He's over 30 isn't he? He can't hit a cow's arse with a banjo so he should always be looking to pass.

Errr... I think you are missing the point. And he CAN finish anyway

What TF are you talking about? The numbers are as clear as day. For all his lovely skills, which I greatly admire, the guy forgot how to score goals 5 years ago.

You mean in the years he hardly played!?

This is BS. Where he can shoot, he should do so

Klopp seemed to me to be more effusive about him than he needed to be when he left Liverpool.

He is the model professional Klopp said, thinks, cares about what he does and where he is done doing it in every respect. Passes the “no dickhead” policy with the greatest of ease. I hope he’s with us for a long time in whatever role.

From someone very much ITK from his Southampton days, he was reportedly the hardest-training, hardest working, most professional player there.

So everyone else is stupid and missing the point? Either that is correct (hmmm) or possibly you're not explaining very well.

And as for the new point you lob in about him taking a shot "nearly every time", now I think you're a troll. You are just making silly unsupportable comments to get attention. You can't be that thick.

Yeah, explained ambiguously. I meant better off passing nearly every time rather than taking a shot. I didn't mean he takes a shot nearly every time, because he doesn't.

No luck involved. My original point was that in 4 seasons he has scored only 2 goals, and this season he has missed the target with several good chances so, on balance, he would be better looking to lay it off to a quality goalscorer such as...........oh.

79 matches, 2 goals. Not so much hardly played as hardly scored. Again, you are deliberately missing the point. Quality player, lovely skills, good vision, can't score.

I disagree with the ‘can’t score’ bit. Not missing any point. How many minutes on pitch is more telling than appearances BTW

Why doesn't he try and pass it in to the net? He seems to be able to pass accurately from 50 yards, but can't shoot for 10. If he could just imagine a team mates foot in the bottom corner of the goal instead of an empty net then perhaps he would start scoring?

For all our good play, we didn't create much of note until he and Mopes came on last night. Still needs to improve finishing a little, obviously.

if you have played the game you may realise that is a difficult conundrum to deal with at park level.....at pro level with a decent defence and keeper it's not as easy as it may seem from your armchair....
