The thing is is that England have very little technically gifted players. Gerrard and Lampard for their clubs spend all day chasing balls and shooting while the FOREIGN players do the rest, hence why Lampard is awful and Gerrard is inconsistent in an England shirt.

The most technically gifted are A.Cole, Barry and Rooney. The only reason I would play Carrick is because Hargreavs and beckham are injured and Scholes is obviously retired and maybe even two of the aforementioned may have started under Capello hadn't it been for injuries etc.

If Carrick gets anywhere near the team, I'll eat my own scrotum. People say he's a good passer, but only when passing the ball backwards. He's also in shit form (shown by Man United dropping him at the end of the season), can't tackle and has no pace. I really, really can't see what he brings to the side.
