I've found loads of companies on the web offering 'experience' days out (ie flying lesson, helicopter flight, balloon trip etc), but I'm a bit stumped about which companies to choose. Have any of you lovely NSC folk got any recommendations?

Thanks all

Find out where the 'experience' is and contact them directly- if it's a flying lesson from say, Shoreham airport, then give Shoreham airport a call and get it for half the price.

To be fair, I'm not sure flying lessons for 80-year-olds is a very good idea. It's bad enough when they're doing 15mph on the A3.

Have you tried the 'Withdean Experience'? Nature Walk pre-game and pro soccer game and warm down in The Sportsman. £50!

To be fair, this particular 80-year-old still plays tennis three times a week and does twice-weekly airport runs for his local church, so you could knock 15 years off him easily. Whether they'd allow him to fly a plane at his age is a different question...

The Kent & East Sussex Railway where I work offers a range of train driving experiences. As someone has posted above, you'll get a much cheaper deal by going direct to the supplier of the activity direct.

Come and have a day driving a steam engine, you won't regret it!

Bought my ma a helicopter ride from Shoreham for her 70th.She loved it.

I've done helicopters and balloons and both are good. The balloon trip is particularly good. They won't fly in rough or dodgy weather,so it's a sedate flight at the pace of the peaceful zephyrs.

If you want I'll have a word with my mate and hire his famous rose-tinted glasses for a most amazing experience. Wear them and everything in life becomes positive. I hear that when worn at the withdean we look like Brazil....send me a cheque, I'll sort for you

Went rally driving on one of those days. Quality day pissed hard and made the conditions so bad they had to abandon the afternoon/evening session because the track was too dangerous. Spent the day knocking over cones trying to power slide in a really bad uncontrolled way in some very dodgy weather. It comes highly recommended.

And don't forget the camera for when you fly over Falmer.

I'm going for an experince day on saturday.

White knuckle ride up a motorway or 2, beer & food at some strippers bar, all sounds pretty good.

Downside is, I've got to go to a football match as part of the package.

I don't think rose-tinted would work on you, though, fella :p
