Syria cannot be rebuilt until the war has finished. In the meantime people are dying in their thousands.

There will never be peace in the Middle East. I'm nearly 70 & cannot name a year when there was peace there. Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Lybia, Iraq, Iran, Kuwait, Aden, etc etc are always at war either against each other or civil.

I agree with this idea, although the only way it would work would be for countries to take many many more refugees. The reason people avoid the camps is because they can be stuck in them for years with no movement. Can't really blame them for going direct.

I agree with everything you say. The UK has a responsibility not just as a good world citizen but also as an acknowledgement of its past to take more refugees. I reckon that you would have to have a heart of stone to deny a Syrian family the right to live without fear if they've literally chucked away everything and thrown themselves on the mercy of the West. The trouble is that it's been handled so badly and there are so many clear cut cases of abuse of the system that it needs a complete rethink.

The British people in relation to the EU have long been sending messages, and the political class are reaping what they have sown.

Once political decisions in this country can’t be hidden by the Byzantine Brussels bureaucracy (e.g. TTIP) then we have the ability to hold them to account, whether or not we do is a moot point.

I think that Brexit is irrelevant when it comes to the moribund political class. My point is that we have had the ability to hold them to account irrespective of the EU. We haven't, we have continued to vote for morally bankrupt politicians and political parties and this won't change.

In an attempt to reverse the trend the Polish government has produced a video to encourage their citizens to " breed like rabbits " .
Surely it makes more sense to re-locate refugees there where their skills can be utilized to good effect in regenerating the economy of the country .
To help them to settle in EU funds could be allocated to fund an intensive Mosque building program as currently only about 4 exist in the entire nation .

Indeed, the irony here is that the members of HoL will be a bulwark against Brexit........their conduct to thwart the democratic will of the people will be lauded by remainers which should be no surprise as they support the way the EU works.

Why is it that you want to conflate the crimes of British people with the crimes of immigrants?

One of these matters is largely controllable and the other is not.

Accordingly the crimes committed by British people should remain the default limit of crimes, every crime by a foreigner is an extra crime (and therefore victim) and that is why rolling up both cohorts is absurd.

The impact of any crime is the same especially for the victims, however those who are subject to crime due to effectively weak political policies, be that short sentences or open borders have a right to question the polical motives behind them.

You want to make sure we take our fair share of refugees, I am full square behind that, but let’s take those that need it most, and a single lone 9 year old child would tick all those boxes. Not her older male family members though, they can stay and fight to overthrow their oppressive regime........if they need training or arms we can help them.

Bad Fish, neither of us can say what the future holds, and you may well be right that the moribund political classes will remain in tact despite Brexit. Certainly those MPs that are doing their best to thwart it or change it to “remain lite” are evidence of the same old contemptible behaviour.

However I think Brexit and it’s consequences for the U.K. Govt is a game changer, it will mean more transparency and accountability than now because decisions cannot be transferred to Brussels. Politicians over the years have deceived the electorate on what the EU is, and those chickens are now roosting in Westminster.

I voted leave for a numbers of reasons, this issue is one of them.

I fear deep down that BHA will get relegated this season, or next, or the one after that, however I hope that we won’t, I hope that we will survive and flourish as an established Premiership team, that means we will never really fear relegation. I hope that we could sustain our crowds and move into a new era, optimistic of FA Cup success, amazing player transfers and European football.

All of the above could happen, but it hope that kills us isn’t?

What is this, bizarre, obsession some have with people moving in with you? I have seen in on NSC many times. I like my own space and I’d only let a friend or family member move in as a total last resort as it simply wouldn’t work for either of us. If some poor refugee ended up spending 24 hours a day in my company they’d be back on a raft to Syria in no time.

This is not to say I wouldn’t help any friends or family members; as I would.

I have had foreign students stay in my home, and my life has been richer for it. I love hearing about their traditions and their countries.
