Excellent FA Cup idea:

All games played on the same day.

Games go to replays until they're won.

Semi Finals played at Villa, Arsenal, Man U etc. NOT Wembley.

BBC show the FA Cup final

Winners go to Cup Winners Cup tournament.

Couldn't have put it better meself.

BBC and ITV to both show the FA Cup Final. BBC coverage to include Cup Final Special Question of Sport. ITV coverage to include Cup Final Special Saint and Greavsie. And Stan Boardman talking about da Gaaaaaaaairmans.

The BBC should have a Cup Final It's a Knockout competition between fans of the two finalists as well. Maybe they could get that Stuart Hall bloke to commentate?

No,No,No,.'mon cheri'................ze seeding in zis way would be a truly excellent idea, zut alors!.No more Prem v Prem in round three.Zink about it.All ze Premiership teams have a, 'ow you say' divine right to win ze FA Cup,so it ees unfair zat AV v MU is drawn by some 'as been from yesteryear. Why should ze Chelsea fans 'ave to travel up from Brighton to see zaire team at ,say,Bury, comme ca when OBVIOUSLY Bury fans would love a trip to zee Smoke, and zeir club would make boodles of francs.'Ohhh la la!'

No,zee sense you eez stuck in ze past conservatives!Bring in this plan immediately.Redraw this season's 3rd round.

Signed,M.Platini.

Sounds authentic...

the real solution of course is to always be drawn against the winners of BBC's televised match from the previous round - guaranteed to progress and can expect Villa or Man U in round 4

The FA Cup is not all about big days out for little teams. It's about the likes of Sutton beating the previous year's FA Cup winners at their crappy home ground. It's about teams like Swansea having to play in a swamp in Horsham.

The thread idea is crap.

Proud to be an FA Cup conservative - BRING BACK THE TWIN TOWERS!!!

If that fat bearded ginger twat is in favour of seeding I say 'NO'

Surely that should be 'Britain's greatest comedy journalist', as billed by his own station.

Bozza - I'm afraid you've missed the point. What the FA Cup so OBVIOUSLY needs is the return of a low-budget special of 'It's a Knockout' between fans of the two clubs in the final. Bring back Eddie Waring for it - though he might smell a bit by now

OK so how about stay with the seeding but forget the home draw bit for all the 'big' clubs with say a 50/50 split as to home or away. Then the likes of Horsham can host the likes of Swansea or have the propect of a trip to Old Trafford?? Basically a win/win situation for smaller clubs.

What POSSIBLE reason would there be to seed the FA Cup? It is so OBVIOUS that this would only benefit the big boys to the detriment of the smaller clubs. Parry is a twat.

As an aside, Parry came out with some Grade A bollocks on yesterday's breakfast show. Bigging up the weekend fixtures coming up (Cheslea v Arsenal and Man Utd v Liverpool) he mentioned that the Big 4 had "better be careful" because the second tier of clubs were "ready to pounce".

He started listing these clubs and their results before moving on swiftly, having realised that, in fact, none of them (Portsmouth, Everton, Villa, Man City, Spurs) actually managed to win on the weekend and the Prem is as much of a closed shop now as it has EVER been.

Fair enough but I still think it is patronising to the smaller clubs, basically saying please don't dirty the later rounds with your silly little lower league sides.

I for one am chuffed to bits we got a very winnable home game in the third round thereby hopefully delaying our meeting with one of the overprotected big boys.

Also, I remember a couple of years ago when tiny French side Calais got to the French Cup final just losing out to Nantes 4 divisions above them. It may have been through a bit of luck in the draw, but it's the odd crazy dream like that which makes football truly the beautiful game we love and adore.

Come come. The point is,with seeding,if minnows like Albion get through,an away fixture against one of the God-like Prem teams guarantees page after page of arguments about STHs and ticketing.

Much more fun than the game itself, surely?
