Excel Help Needed

I have a list of figures, all of which are sums of formulas, which I need to sort.

However, excel won't let me do it, but keeps it all in the same order.


So I tried a basic sort excercise on a new sheet to test it and the same thing happened:

Entered random figures in cells A1:A10
Entered basic formula '=A1' in B1, '=A2' in B2 etc
Then tried to sort column B.

But it won't let me.

Is there a setting I have missed, or am I doing something completely wrong?

You need to change the formulas to absolute references.

E.g.

=$A$1 etc

Do this using the F4 key.
