One of tomorrow's number was not just a statistic to me... he was my friend.

We met through singing together... and it is brutal to hear he has died so young.

This is a horrible ,horrible disease. Sadly it hits different age groups with no logic, pattern or reason, we are all vulnerable, and, we know not to what extent. RIP Alvin.

Last Saturday when the number of deaths was read out My friend was one of them, We worked together, went on the slosh together, took the piss out of each, now I cannot even go to his funeral.

I was chatting to a friend of mine who has a weaker immune system from stage 4 cancer. I was telling him how i have been isolating 16 days and yet i see people sunbathing and chatting and socialising. He said the government have it wrong by telling people, save the NHS, save other peoples lives, when they should be just saying, stay in or you could die. Makes sense. Some people just don't care enough about other people for this to work.

For many of us the epidemic will take people we know and make it seem even more real in the coming days/weeks/months.

My best mates dad lost his fight against cancer a short time ago, the funeral was on the Monday before we went into lockdown - I can’t think of many worse things than not being able to be there near the end for loved ones or not being able to go to their funeral.

My mum is 73 and has some pretty severe health issues, my other half’s dad has very bad copd. Both are self isolating and are living in fear.

I just don’t understand some people’s ignorance when it comes to not going out for anything other than getting food or medical supplies, doing an essential job or doing one of these things for vulnerable people. It’s NOT a holiday and it’s NOT a game.

Yes it’s tough especially with kids at home but EVERYONE is in the same boat.

100% this. The tag line “save the NHS” is all wrong, it needs to be more hard hitting and direct, so the thick in our society understand it’s about individual lives, yours, mine, our family and friends and not some behemoth faceless organisation.

But that’s the problem though. Everyone doesn’t perceive themselves to be in the same boat.

The daily figures tell us how many have died, and certainly in the early days ALL had underlying health issues, whatever that means.

Then the government made it about the 1.8 million vulnerable and shielding (imprisoned) people.

Oh, and then it was for the majority of people who contract the virus the symptoms will be mild, if you even know you’ve had it.

Now, unless you fell into one of the top 2 categories you could be forgiven (not really) for thinking this doesn’t affect you - it does, your ignorance is killing innocent people. Do as you are told and stay indoors or at least at home, don’t invite friends and family round for a BBQ ‘cos the weather is nice, you selfish pricks...

Sorry to hear of your loss. I know exactly what you mean about just seeing the number. This thing is absolutely brutal and I think there is much soul searching to come when we come out the other side
