As this thread vanishes into the ether of the web I'd like to say thanks to the stewards at Everton.
My mate has trouble standing and was escorted to some empty seats at the front, I presume they keep them back. The steward then informed the pitchside guys about him, telling us where the disabled toilets were and just ask to be taken via the pitchside.
Personally, it was the aniversary of my Daughters death and I knew the last post would tip me over the edge and so stood alone in the concourse in bits. Two stewards came up to me and asked if I was OK, one gave me a good man hug, no words were needed.
So thanks to all of them, I've emailed Everton to say the same.
Meanwhile, just a few seats from us some idiot spent the first 15 minutes of the game screaming at the Everton fans near us. He could have been kicked out, indeed should have, but the stewards took the softly softly approach to calm him down. In the end an Albion steward warned him and he did calm down.

Always good to hear some appreciation for a job well done. Exceptional empathy from a steward to offer you up the man hug.

Please also accept this electronic man hug from myself and, I imagine, all of us here on NSC.

Not sure if this was you and your mate but I saw stewards guiding a chap with a walking stick down to those front seats at half time. I'm pretty sure he was a row or so in front of us first half. Might not have been you - but I commented on it to my mate and said how great the Everton stewards were ... mostly older chaps with bags of life experience and a great sense of Scouse humour.

Not us, although it sounds like us. My mate was sat on the concourse steps consuming his pie & pint. Initially asked to move (politely) but when he saw my mate couldn't stand through disability he said stay there. He then waited with us and then took us to the seats.

That's great from the steward.

I was hoping to meet an old friend of mine before the game. A STH at Goodison since he was a lad - he'll be 56 next month. But Around 5 years ago he was sadly diagnosed with Parkinsons. I think things are gradually getting tougher for him ... but he won't say how he is. He was in Lanzarote Saturday getting some winter sun ... so couldn't meet up.

That tells me to make the most of life and get to as many games as I can ... while I can.

Best stewards I've experienced. They really were fantastic, and great that they supported you and your friend when they needed.

As for the chap having a go at the Everton fans, was he an oldish bloke who should have known better in a beige Harrington jacket? If so he was three seats across from me and my son on the same row. An absolute nause who was annoying everyone around him. Not only did the stewards try and calm him down, so did my son and I and so did our friend Jack and his mates and a few of the others. In the end their fans were laughing at him and so were we. He disappeared at half time having been advised to move rather than kicked out.

As Jack said at the time, imagine being four days away from a trip to Amsterdam and getting banned for being a dick at Everton?!
