A female friend of mine once met John McCririck at Ascot Racecourse, she was working for ToteSport at the time and he said to her (she tells me he said these EXACT words), "Sorry Darling, any blokes around? I fancy a bet. Nice tits though".

I wouldn't have expected anything more from that prick though.

Hes got a rep for that sort of thing, she should have reported hum.

I've met a few "famous" people and they have swung both ways so to speak ( oh er !!! ) :

Tony Blair - regardless of my politics he was a rude and arrogant person who seemed to forget "please" and "thank you" were part of the English language
Tessa Saunderson - nice as pie and very quiet and sweet
Giles Brandreth - despite his TV persona was really down to earth and actually very funny
The Chippendales ( don't ask !!! ) - all a complete bunch of tosspots

EDIT - forgot Lord Ivor Caplin - actually uttered the immortal words "Do you know who I am ?" to me. Wanker of the highest grade regardless of his support of the Albion.
Doesn't surprise me in the slightest. I used to work for his Aunt and she was an arrogant know-it-all too!

I saw Jaykay from Jamiroqui at Goodwood a few years back. Massive tosser - refused to acknowledge any fans and ended up riding a monkey bike through the crowds, scattering petrolheads and the middle classes everywhere...

I [and a few colleagues] met Craig Mackail-Smith the day he signed; he was walking across the car park to his car and agreed to have his picture taken with us - a bunch of fawning men in their mid 40s. Apologising for taking up his time and coming out with daft, teen-like platitudes such as 'I bet you get browned off with this' etc, he replied he loved it and it was no problem at all and made us feel very appreciated and valued as fans.

I know this isn't the idea of the thread, but I thought I'd share anyway. BTW - I fell in love with him from that very moment; in a manly way, mind.

I used to work in Security in London for ITN and Channel 5.

Off the top of my head:
Jerry Sadowitz - Complete tosspot and horrible, horrible man.
Dom Jolly - not as Jolly as you'd think
Jamie Oliver - annoying quite nice
Kenny Daglish - Legend, top bloke
John Barnes - as above
Jordan - apologies if anyone knows her but thought she was up her own arse.
Trevor McDonald and Kristian Guru-Murphy- up their own arse
John Snow - legend, top bloke
All of the milkshake lot at channel 5 were tops - Naomi Wilkinson, Jordan Daniels, Eddie Matthews.
The Queen and Prince Phillip - understandably only gave me a little smile and didn't stop to chat so can't comment
Darius, Gareth gates and Will young - all seemed quite nice
Ant and Dec - were quite nice.
Peter Stringfellow -surprisingly alright
Darren Day - as above
Isla Fisher (at the time going out with above) - lovely

depends on the day you meet them I suppose

Mike Summerbee, miserable fucker and bitter about the riches earned by todays players.
Joy Royle, racist.
Greg Chappell (ex Australian cricket captain), came out with the classic line to a friend who politely asked for an autograph "You've got no chance to me signing son so you might as well go home and play with yourself". Dennis Lillee by contrast was a GOD, friendly, avuncular, twinkle in his eye.
The Nolan Sisters, talentless slags.
Bobby Charlton, stood behind him at a cashpoint, I politely said, "Nice day Bobby", his reply "It's SIR Bobby actually"
Martin Edwards, ex United chairman, graceless whore shagger and a bad loser. Used to do the accounts at United many years ago and they played a cricket game against the accounting department. Management lost by one run, and he locked his team in the changing room for half an hour afterwards!

You should have taken him outside and smeared him across the pavement.

Mate used to drink in Paul Gascoinge local, said he was the biggest wanker he had ever come across. Starting fights and getting his mates to bail him out.

Roger Daltrey is a nice, down to earth, intelligent and friendly chap.

So some people are sound, and some are wankers......Hey these celebrities are just like normal people!

Some of them don't like being hassled when they are not working. Maybe those are the ones who are not just in it for the fame and you have to respect that.

I find fame fascinating, i have never felt the urge to ask someone to write their name down on a piece of paper because they are on the telly or similar.

It is a sad reflection of today's society when kids answer the quesiton "What do you want to be when you grow up?"
with "I want to be famous"
and the next question "What for?"
is answered with blank looks like it doesn't matter what for.

I think it is possibly very dangerous to meet your hero's. Especially mine as I suspect they often would be Bolshie, rude and want to be left alone, and I respect that as I hope my heros are not in it for the fame. Fame should be a by product of being successful and one that is tolerated not courted or used for our own ends. Of course I don't condone or excuse anyone being rude or nasty but we all have off days.

I met Frankie Boyle a few years ago, with a friend of mine in Edinburgh. We both went up to him and asked him how his show was going and the like. He gave us about five minutes and then excused himself, saying he had a call to take. Pulled out his mobile and held it to his ear but it was, in fact, turned off.

Funnily enough the same day I met a recently bald Gail Porter and she was absolutely lovely. Had a nice chat with her and her mum and despite her shiny bald bonce she was still surprisingly sexy

We met Jenson Button in the bar at Gatwick many years ago, (when he drove for Williams) my wife asked him if she could have a photo with him, and he was good as gold, him and his girlfriend (fit) gladly posed for a few snaps.
Anyway I asked him if I could buy him a drink, but he refused but bought us all a beer, then came and joined us at our table ! An absolute legend and an excellent afternoon before we all went of for our respective flights, it's not everyday that you get to drink with an F1 star !

Jimmy Tarbuck.

I spent a day caddying at a golf club when I was a kid and had the misfortune to bump into the gap toothed cretin, who came across as a complete and utter cock. He was holding court with the other players during lunch, fuelled by alcohol he was cracking jokes for benefit of all around, I was just hanging around waiting for play to resume. I was a bit of a scruffy kid, probably not dressed suitably for a golf course, and after a while it seemed obvious to me that I was the butt of some of his jokes. I felt about two inches tall and had I not been in need of the money, not having been paid for my morning's efforts, I would have gone home. The only good thing was that the bloke I caddied for was an absolute gent and paid me pretty well, though the bloke he played against got a bit shirty when I couldn't tell him where his ball had ended up, the whole experience did put me off golf somewhat...and that scouse twat!

He is rumoured to demand payment for charity events he does although i have no proof.
