Most of us give up name calling once we leave the playground.
While I agree with the sentiment I feel that you’ve picked the wrong post. That’s just someone’s description of Hurzeler.

What I can’t is nicknames like Dopey Dutchman (for Verbruggen) or gormless benny (for Potter). If you have a criticism of a player or manager make it, but stupid nicknames just feel juvenile.

You know what? Nothing personal to you mate, but why do fans get fixated on things like this?

I could repeat a thousand times the facts, that we were struggling against a low block and had tried for the previous 89 minutes to break through, with scarcely a shot on target or dangerous moment. We had tried crosses, intricate play, direct balls over the top - we were out of ideas and the players on the pitch were not doing the business.

So he took a punt - for 5 minutes - attempting something radical just to maybe win a header in the box, get a bounce off a big man’s arse - anything so we might get that one moment and equalise.

And now it’s being used as a stick to beat him with, the fact he saw it wasn’t working and tried something once to get us a result.

It’s f***ing pathetic.

No offence, like.
Agree. Its no different to sending a keeper up for a set piece at the death to try and fluke a goal in.

I can only think of one game where Rutter has been our main CF.

This performance was the opposite of ‘unsuccessful’:

He has played as CF plenty.

Leyton, E10.
I am more than happy with this move. I think for half a season at least it allows us to view Ferguson thru a different lens. If he’s smashing them in for WH then it’s good news for us. If he has a stinker then it somewhat vindicates FH selection policy (not withstanding real or fictional injuries).

This is a good opportunity for both parties and we want Evan to do well at WHU.

I don’t understand the bedwetting about this loan. It wasn’t happening for Evan with us, he needs time away. I also don’t understand why people want our players to go on loan to a completely different level to the one we need them to play at. What’s the point? Go and bang in 10 goals in the Championship and then come back and realise the Premier League is too hard again? Great.

‘Oh but it strengthens a rival’. Yes, but also weakens every other team in the division that rival plays against, if it goes well. This loan makes perfect sense to me, as does Enciso’s, as does Buenonotte’s. They aren’t really development loans as such, they are a way of keeping players that we want for the long term at the club, while getting them matches they wouldn’t be getting here, thus keeping them happy.
I also think Potter is a good coach for Ferguson as he knows him well.

Click on the line-ups for those matches. For the majority of them, he is playing with Welbz and rarely leads the line.
So did Ferguson for one of his two starts.

The fact remains that Ferguson has not been given the time to build any kind of form.
comparing his output with players who have been given the time isn't fair on teh lad.
After scoring his first goal of the season, he was given less than 10 minutes in each of the next 6 games, and was an unused sub in one of those games.

If he has made the bench, he should be fit enough for 30 minutes and that would be a reasonable expectation with our starting CF who hasn't scored a single goal since Ferguson last did despite starting in every game since.

If we'd been on a magical run of freeflowing attacking football then fair enough.
But we haven't.

As answered previously, keep chelsea within reach, looking up rather than down and worrying if West Ham catch us

If West Ham win tomorrow, Chelsea will still be six points ahead of us (with a +18 better goal difference), but West Ham will then be four points behind - more chance of West Ham leapfrogging us, than us catching Chelsea.

I get that but I still believe we can, however unlikely, catch teams above us. West Ham beat Chelsea and we beat them in league we will only be 3 points behind😀

Probably repressed the unsuccessful attempts from your memory. I don’t blame you. But let’s not go off vibes here.

The following games are the ones where his average position were classified as a ‘CF’ in the premier league.

Ipswich (h)
Wolves (h)
Liverpool (a)
City (h)
Fulham (a)
West Ham (a)
Brentford (h)
Arsenal (h)
United (a) - where your recency bias takes effect

Worth noting against Forest he started as a central striker alongside Welbeck, but was dropped deeper and averaged an AM position.

1 goal and 1 assist from those games.

In Rutter’s defence he’s been shoved around in several positions. But he clearly has had better results playing behind Welbeck. We’re also straying away from the original point I made. Ferguson leaving does weaken our options in that position.
