Can't agree with this. Scored some really good goals and was starting to show his worth. A step up from Maupay. Seems he may have had personal issues which could only be resolved by returning to Germany.

Hello. Apologies, on my very first post, to be asking for info instead of offering it. I’m a writer for the Irish Times newspaper, but based fulltime in London. I’m doing a piece on the way Evan Ferguson has been received by Brighton & HA fc fans and by the city in general. From afar, it’s striking to witness the rapport you seem to have with him already, so early in his career.
I am not a football journalist. Although I’m a big fan of the sport, and the footballing bit is relevant to what I’m doing, I’m not really the guy to be pulling apart the merits of a 4-3-3 versus lone striker formation. I am more interested in the relationship between Ferguson and the fans/city.
What do you expect from him? Is he ever seen around the town? Football aside, what sort of a young lad do you think he is?
I intend to be in Brighton most of the day this coming Monday 11th, that night overnight, and most of the next day and early evening on the Tuesday. If any of you who live locally would even be prepared to meet me for a swift pint (we’ll make my boss pay!) or a coffee or lunch or whatever, that would be fantastic.
I appreciate it’s not a weekend, but if anyone had any advice on good pubs or other places to go to meet seagulls fans while I’m there, it would be appreciated. Any info, thoughts or suggestions you could offer here would be most welcome.

I'm amazed you haven't been swamped with takers of that free swift pint. I'm abroad so can't take you up on it myself.
As for places to meet fans, perhaps the Caxton would be a good place to start. The landlord is a big fan.

Thought I pasted that clip before - but yea - that game solidified the awareness of people that he is special. I have never seen a 14 year-old being able to handle himself against big club defenders like Ferguson did in this match. The last kid that was able to do it like this was probably Duncan Edwards.
You may well have, I’d only ever read about the match, didn’t realise highlights existed til today. Almost impossible to know if things are posted before on here and anyway, the clip is so good it’s worth reposting over and over!

At games live I have the impression that EF naturally shuts the opposition out from his thinking. Reputations, attempts at bullying or intimidation all irrelevant. His quick mind and feet laser focused on scoring or passing to a team mate.

The story of Evan at Brighton is really part of the wider story of the club's recruitment team looking for talent and value in less exploited markets. Alexis Mac Allister winning the World Cup has highlighted that BHA have been signing young (but over 18) South American players directly from their home clubs rather than through the more usual route to English football via Spain, Portugal & Italy.
Ferguson has been known as a special prospect from a very young age and its been well documented that he chose Brighton over opportunities at more glamorous places. His chance of a route to the first team has been rightly reported as a big factor in this decision, but what has been less discussed is that he followed a path taken by quite a few other Irish youth prospects. Take a look at the signings of the U18 side https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/brighton-amp-hove-albion-u18/alletransfers/verein/9606 and you'll see that the club has signed one or more players from Irish sides in most years of Bloom's tenure. Ferguson, Moran, Connolly, Molumby seem to be the most notable, but there are plenty of others that came to Brighton from Irish Youth football.

Just eff off, eh? Clickbait doesn't even come near it!
It made national news here and the media was generally in uproar about it and dug his club Bohs out of it.
It was dangerous and he was too young etc.
The lads on his team were laughing at the questions and talking about him bullying them in training and manhandling their big centre halves.
It is more normalised now. We have a few lads like that. Melia in particular is a bit of a freak for his age. Scoring when he just turned 15 in pro balland breaking our youngest scorer record. Scoring hatricks 3-4 years up in our underage internationally. I want him to go to Brighton but I think he may end up at City
On another promising Irish note. Andrew Moran captained our 21's last night and was amazing. scored a worldie, beat 4 and won a pen and won motm. he has another goal ruled out and for me he was kinda robbed of a second. Absolutely gorgeous player and people want him straight in the seniors because we don't have many att mids like him. We are really short on quality there. O mahony scored for the 19's too.

We seem to have a rich seam of young Irish talent coming through the Academy. In can't think of a better club for all young talented players to develop in at the moment, given the support and opportunities they get here, plus we play a consistent style of football through all age groups, which helps produce technically adept players, confident on the ball In all positions.
The academy Evan came out of is a great academy that play great football. They compete against top pro clubs in Europe at their age groups. The academy tournament they have brings the best teams. Barca, Atletico etc and Kevins often beat them. They have produced Irelands best players going right back to Liam Brady. Bohemians did barely anything with Evan but they are linked now to the st Kevins academy. People are just starting to see the fruits of a shake up here. Still wildly and shamefully underfunded because of a bias towards our own sports and Rugby
Brighton owner should buy it or a club in Cork where O 'Mahony was bought from. Ireland's problem is u18's and above, not a shortage on talent at all.
