Even if he was English no chance that Southgate would pick him.
Only in friendlies, so he can still switch allegiance. No chance - he made his full Ireland debut in November I’m pretty sure.
Fair enough - I don’t think he’ll swap thoughOnly in friendlies, so he can still switch allegiance.
Evan
Scores a goal in each half
And Evan
Will tear you apart.
TBF, in his interviews he seems far more Irish than any of Jack Charlton's team of fake Irishmen!Fair enough - I don’t think he’ll swap though
I would be very very surprised. Grealish and Rice were born and raised in England, with some Irish heritage. They probably played for ROI at youth level because they thought they had a better chance - then switched when England came calling.Irish press are worried that he will do a grealish, rice switch.
And don't forget that Harry Kane could have made his dad happy and elected for the Rep.of IrelandIrish press are worried that he will do a grealish, rice switch.
It can happen; Eoin Morgan played cricket for England...I would be very very surprised. Grealish and Rice were born and raised in England, with some Irish heritage. They probably played for ROI at youth level because they thought they had a better chance - then switched when England came calling.
Ferguson is clearly born and raised in Ireland, with an Irish footballer dad. Despite having an English mother, I imagine he would very much see himself as Irish.
I'm saying all this with absolutely no knowledge of any of those players' preferences or identities, of course. But it would take a lot for an Irishman to switch allegiance to England, one would think.
There was only one of Jack's team who had no Irish credentials and that was Tony Cascarino...TBF, in his interviews he seems far more Irish than any of Jack Charlton's team of fake Irishmen!
Yeh, I know. Grandad. Pint of Guiness. Day trip to Dublin - shagged someone/got shagged........... never going to get picked for England .......There was only one of Jack's team who had no Irish credentials and that was Tony Cascarino...

Not just Morgan on the cricket side - could also mention Boyd Rankin and Ed Joyce, and there's others who've technically switched allegiance (so they can more easily take up County contracts) and thus weakened what should have been a stronger Irish side over the years. Slightly different context, though, to be fair - Ireland being a fringe nation in cricket with opportunities few and far between. It can happen; Eoin Morgan played cricket for England...
That’s what I thoughtUnaffordable to Newcastle
Didn't think they had a spare £100m either?Tim Sherwood has urged Newcastle United to splash out for Evan Ferguson – comparing the Irish striker to their former legend and teammate Alan Shearer.
“Didn’t we just mention that Newcastle were looking for a striker?” the pundit told Australian sports channel Optus Sport, referring to their sale of Chris Wood to Nottingham Forest.
“That might be one there (Ferguson). Go in now.
“There’s no point in getting him after he’s scored 50 Premier League goals because he will be unaffordable.
“Now’s the time you need to pick him out – when they’re ready, they’re ready.”
