I stand happily corrected. He's now 6ft 2" and wikipedia is not only out of date but also massively incorrect - it says he's 132kg

As I watched I was wondering if De Zerbi had given him instructions to shoot when he could. As you say, confident. As well as his goal, he hit an outstanding shot from 30 yards that wasn’t too far away and also hit the post with a very difficult turn and shot with the ball behind him. Looked confident.
Gosh, you must be older than meReminds me of a young Bobby Smith.
I thought his movement for his goal was exceptional for a young forward. It looked simple enough, but showed a lot of natural intelligence and instinct to suck the defenders into the 6 yard box with him then check and step back into the space. That was very Sheringham-sque.Lots of interesting and flattering comparisons. Marc Anderson our ex scout described him as the next Teddy Sherringham.
A tall strong centre forward with good close control, great positioning and able to score with either foot or his head. The weakness in Sherringham's game was he was not overly blessed with pace. Given that Pascal Gross was able to out sprint Everton's lumbering centre backs last night (I can't quite believe I just wrote that), it probably wasn't the best measure of how Ferguson compares pacewise with some of the forwards he has been compared to on this thread.
Must be his golden right footHe's now 6ft 2" and wikipedia is not only out of date but also massively incorrect - it says he's 132kg
I'd rather get excited about a young prospect than sit on my hands worrying he might not match the hype. Let his family, his friends, the club and manager worry about cautionary tales.See I have an issue about all this hype around him, I remember the last time we put all our hopes and got excited about a young Irish prospect, that fizzled out….
I guess the main difference between then and now is the “big“ bit, let’s hope that swings it this time around.
well done Evan, may your progress continue at a steady pace for all concerned.
Haha think I was 15 when Bobby Smith made his debut at the packed out Goldstone. We beat Barrow 3-1 with 2 from Smith. Big (soon to become too big), bustling and with a surprisingly deft touch for someone of his build. Evan really did remind me a bit of him, but as so many have said, it's very early days, and he'll need careful managing. With RDZ at the helm, we should feel confident about that.Gosh, you must be older than me
My cocker spaniel is more sensible than Connolly
Anyone know what length of contract he is currently on. Think he is what we have been missing for some time now looks mustard.Top footie fact. Evan Ferguson has scored twice as many goals in the last 4 days as Des Walker got in 22 years.
Surely more in the Haaland mould. If he played for Man City and was this good at this age he’d be hyped as the next Ronaldo already
It was extended to June 2026 in October just gone. Mac Allister-ish levels of good timing, that!Anyone know what length of contract he is currently on. Think he is what we have been missing for some time now looks mustard.
The BHA website would be a good place to look for information like that!Anyone know what length of contract he is currently on. Think he is what we have been missing for some time now looks mustard.
I was at the Barrow game and think I was 14...so yes, you are much older than me . Some similarities for sure in the players .Haha think I was 15 when Bobby Smith made his debut at the packed out Goldstone. We beat Barrow 3-1 with 2 from Smith. Sure, getting carried away a little - no doubt. But depending on personality etc. one thing that worked out or didn't work out with another player might not be the case with a different one. Some players will do just fine without needing to spend six months or a year in Shrewsbury, others might need it. I trust the club to get the decision right 90% of the times.Am I the only one who thinks people are getting carried away here? He looks a good player but so did Connolly, and there is an argument to say we ruined him by keeping him in the Premier League when he wasn't ready for it. I'd get Ferguson out on loan to a Championship, or even League One club for the rest of the season. Get him banging in the goals and continuing to learn away from the pressure of the Premier League. We gambled on Connolly because we hoped he might be the answer to our goalscoring problems, and it didn't pay off. We don't have those problems now (despite what the SING A STRIKER brigade think), we are the 5th top scorers in the league.
We need to play the long game with this lad, like we do on everything else.

You're not suggesting there is an issue with Aaron Connolly's personality, are you mate!?Sure, getting carried away a little - no doubt.
