Probably repressed the unsuccessful attempts from your memory. I don’t blame you. But let’s not go off vibes here.

The following games are the ones where his average position were classified as a ‘CF’ in the premier league.

Ipswich (h)
Wolves (h)
Liverpool (a)
City (h)
Fulham (a)
West Ham (a)
Brentford (h)
Arsenal (h)
United (a) - where your recency bias takes effect

Worth noting against Forest he started as a central striker alongside Welbeck, but was dropped deeper and averaged an AM position.

1 goal and 1 assist from those games.

In Rutter’s defence he’s been shoved around in several positions. But he clearly has had better results playing behind Welbeck. We’re also straying away from the original point I made. Ferguson leaving does weaken our options in that position.
I’m sorry.

You can look at Transfermarkt and see him marked down as a CF or you can go to the matches and see that he is not playing as a No.9 in those matches.

He does not take up the positions of a player leading the line. Nowhere near as it turns out:

Oh, and the only recency bias is yours since you clearly recently clicked on Transfermarkt to find out if Georginio has played centre forward for us and you are unwisely bias to that site for some reason?

Click on the line-ups for those matches. For the majority of them, he is playing with Welbz and rarely leads the line.

To say he only played once as a centre forward was clearly nonsense. I’m pleased others did their research before I could reply!

Again, this is straying way off the main point I was making anyway. There’s no point arguing what you think a CF is or what a heat map is showing. Transfer market use data to decide how to categorise a players position. It obviously changes throughout a game through play / tactical changes. Like yesterday at Forest, where we initially lined up in a 4-1-3-2 formation.

If anything, those heat maps show his limitations when he IS meant to be occupying CF positions instead of Ferguson. The point of my post. Against West Ham for context Welbeck and Ferguson didn’t start, Rutter lined up and Pedro took a deeper position. That game yielded 2 shots on target.

It’s clear to me Ferguson leaving weakens Brighton’s options at ‘CF’.

Looks like for £35m though? Wouldn't be the first time we've loaned a young player out, only for the other club to then spend a load of money on another player in the same position.
It’s apparently £15m upfront with £20m in bonuses if he actually makes it as a proper West Ham player and has some success in the next decade.

I disagree with loan to teams in same league even if we agree not to have them play against us, makes no sense to me we want our players to do well for a team that we are competing against - shouldve gone to a top Championship team or abroad.
No, that makes no sense at all. If the move gets him back to his best for us for next season, especially that there are 18 other clubs (also our rivals in the league) that he could help them take points off if he does well, there's absolutely nothing to moan about. Win win in fact.

If he’s enjoying his football under Potter and the loan is successful I’m sure he will be very excited to come back to the manager who doesn’t seem to rate him.
West Sham could go all out to make the deal permanent and rather than keep an unhappy player he goes on to fill his potential with them.
We get a bag of money and lose a highly rated young striker.

Can't we just get rid of our s**t manager and keep our clearly talented young striker?

Maybe we will in the summer. Perhaps the board are unsure on Hurzeler but are giving him to the summer.

If things don’t go well for the rest of the season and they get rid of him then Ferguson can have a fresh start with us under a new manager.

If Hurzeler does well then maybe Ferguson will be off.

Good call, I'll look forward to him being back in an Albion shirt next season then 😌

If the club do get rid of FH in the summer, then at least if his unfancied players are only out on loan, then their situation is salvageable for the next guy

He’ll be back in the summer.

It might be quite different here then.

Meanwhile, he desperately needs minutes. Even under a different manager, his form and fitness have indicated that he should not be starting ahead of Welbeck, Pedro or Rutter. No such issues for him at West Ham. Would you be happier with him spending the rest of the season with us getting the odd 10mins here or there?
