I don’t think it’s anything to do with hate, I just thought the staging was too much, our guy couldn’t sing very well and the song was forgettable. Europe didn’t hate us when we entered an excellent song and singer, and only lost due to sympathy voting for Ukraine.
Honestly, I thought our song was one of the worst in the competition for the same reasons: poor vocals and a forgettable song.

Vote for Switzerland; a country that deliberately disguises the assets of Russia and the rest of the criminal world. Switzerland is a country that built its wealth on gold teeth from Jews in Germany. Well done them.
Good job we’ve not got any colonial gremlins in our past, otherwise that’d be an embarrassing sentiment.

They had a good song and people liked it

Because there were at least three better songs out there if you’re judging this as a music show (France, Cyprus and Croatia). We also gave Ireland 10 FFS.

Gary Lineker made a very good measured interview over the last few days about how it isn't antisemitic to be appalled by the actions of the Israeli Government.

We should extend that thinking to an Israeli performing in a song contest.

Several people I know didn’t mind the song when heard on the radio, but HATED the staging/imagery.

These aren’t homophobic people, they just found the overt homoeroticism too much. I think with a much “nicer”, simpler staging we would’ve done considerably better. Instead they tried to make a statement and it horribly backfired.

As I say, the lad doesn’t have the best voice either. A perfect storm of average singer/song and staging which many found unappealing led to a probably deserved nul points from the audience.

Not sure how much Nemo had to do with all that, but... sure

I was impressed by Switzerland, powerful song very well performed with memorable but not too complicated staging on the tippy table.

France or Italy also would have deserved the win in my opinion.

I wasn't surprised at all that the UK vote went to Israel but remember that doesn't mean that a majority voted for them, just that they got more than any others. It doesn't take much for a political or a provocative vote choice to gain points in a field of 25.

UK - frankly we can't complain about always doing poorly when we always send the crappiest songs. Pitchy vocals, nonsensical staging, completely forgettable generic song.

In your opinion, obviously not that of the British public who voted.

UK voters don't like being told what to do. It's why a man dressed as a monkey won a mayoral election and 24,000 people voted for a bin as London mayor, and I voted for a non existent donkey at the council by-election.

I think also worth noting that the UK jury (made up of others in the UK music business similar to those who pick the song) gave maximum points to Portugal, a song which went down like a bucket of cold sick with the European public too. Probably quite telling how out of touch with European tastes the UK industry is in that.

Switzerland are doing that right now. Their banks are hiding billions of dollars of ill-gotten gains. Now. They’re not being called out because they’re quite important to world economics, unfortunately.

Let’s face it, all these songs are shit.

Olly Alexander is a really talented guy who did some superb songs with Years & Years, but the song was poor and performance wasn't great. Shame really, a song like one of these would have cleaned up:
