This isn't a personnel problem though, this is tactical more than anything. He doesn't trust the defence, so has Rice and Mainoo sitting in front of them, so Slovakia dominating the midfield and pressing really well, so the defence have no out ball. Have Rice in front of the back for, Bellingham as the floating number 8, Foden as the 10, Watkins up front and have a proper winger on the left. Loads of pace, pushes their full backs back. Got to be better than this shit.
Literally everyone except Southgate accepts this is more or less the answer. It's baffling.

We’ve got worse every game this tournament. Everything is so slow. We have no idea how to progress the ball up the pitch. I don’t think Southgate has a plan B, we only play one way. Nowhere near good enough. I blame both the players and the manager.

Got to be at least 2 subs at half-time to try and turn this around. No good doing a bit of tinkering
I’d change both wingers now - I’m not sure what you can do about that midfield

Erm, well, Mainoo has done okay.

And er, no lightning storms.

The thing is that I'm so used to this now that I'm not even bothered. All you can do is roll your eyes and see the funny side.

See I'm completely the opposite. I've not got wound up by the football for decades, but this tournament is bringing the rage out. We have a stonking team going forward and a good enough defensive centre midfielder to cover the leaky defence. Just go for it.
