Was that the game where the Dutch guy put his studs into someone's chest - and stayed on the pitch?

Yes, intentional. They targeted greats like Alonso and Iniesta. Webb bottled the big occasion, he later admitted he got it wrong.

Just got home. Didn’t watch the England game BUT I’m looking forward to @Randy McNob dressing that one up….I understand it will be more entertaining than the actual game

we played another team who set their stall out to defend and frustrate, but that was somehow Southgate's fault. He brought on Toney and TAA to take pens, they both scored and we won. But apparantly it's just 'luck'

A lot of egg on a alot of face

WC semi
EURO Final
EURO semi (at least)

But he's a shit manager and doing a bad job

But he's a very lucky manager, no top club will ever touch him and he's doing a bad job, stealing a living
Corrected.

Netherlands is the first team we have faced in this competition which I would consider to be of a similar quality to England. That said, I would be surprised if England won against them.

Are we spoilt with the football served up in the premier league? Perhaps our international expectations are too high..

Another semi final for Southgate, doing his thing.

Maybe our thing as fans is to suffer in silent positivity as we watch them.

My positive hope for this is that he is laying some groundwork for the next manager to build on.

Savage has just said Southgate has given us 'pride and excitement.' This is incorrect. He has given us boredom, excitement and relative success.

Either that or the pundits are gaslighting us.

Anyone notice how two of the four quarter finals had English referees. I thought they were rubbish compared to Europeans

Finding it hard to muster much enthusiasm despite England’s progress. Southgate is a genuinely lovely guy with a great England record and I’ve enjoyed the previous tournaments until the caution has cost them when it comes to the crunch.

But they’ve stunk the place out this time. It’s obvious Trippier is a good player but a waste of a shirt in yesterday’s role. Weak defensively throughout and offered nothing in attack, which crippled the team completely. One tweak there alone could have transformed the performance from the start.

They got very lucky again. Conservative to the point that just before the Swiss scored, our forwards were ambling around aimlessly 15 yards outside our own penalty area. Then the customary mad scramble of substitutions, where we suddenly have next to no defenders on the pitch and all the attackers in a desperate formation looking confused. Then, after equalising, back to grinding out a draw.

I have a suspicion that if Shaw is fit to start from now on (and if they’re bold enough to hook Kane if he continues to look utterly exhausted), things could improve dramatically but up to now it’s been little short of a shambles.

Good penalties though. That seems to be enough to satisfy a lot of people (including, bizarrely, the BBC panel who were talking as if we’d blown the Swiss away at half-time rather than putting in a mildly more encouraging performance that had delivered a whopping zero shots on target).

Yes, i know nobody will care if we win the trophy - but it’s not happening if we play like that against the teams to come).

Switzerland had Inter Milan’s keeper, two world class centre backs in Schar and Akanji, a captain whose Bundesliga team only lost once all last season and one of the quickest forwards in the tournament.

They also drew with Germany and beat Italy.

We've won one (1) game in the whole tournament in 90 minutes, and that was a turgid 1-0 victory. We didn't manage a shot on target until 80 minutes, and the last game we had one shot on target in the 95th minute. We've failed to score a goal in 5 games now between 15 minutes and 80 minutes.

Make no bones about it we've absolutely stunk the place out despite having the best attacking talent in Europe. However we are still in this tournament and given the goings on it does have that sort of feeling now that everything conspiring with us.
