I gave Southgate benefit of the doubt after the first game, got the job done, but there is absolutely no dynamism in this team, like for like subs, persisting with TAA. We can’t sack him now, but he is so pragmatic. Obviously he’s never tried it out, but why not change to a 4-2-2-2 with high wing backs. He’s got absolutely no nous to try something different. We can’t do that either because he gambled on Shaw being fit for some bizarre reason. Some baffling decisions, nothing built on from what I thought was a decent performance against Serbia which got the job done.

We can, and should, sack him tonight

On the wind up?
Not at all. I don’t rate him, same as many others. And he could have done better with the Denmark goal, a long range shot with plenty of time to see it. What do you disagree with?

The scariest thing is that apparently he said that they never found a replacement for Calvin Phillips🤪

What?! The ball was struck hard along the ground and went in off the post. What keeper is saving that?!
A more agile and alert ‘keeper would have done better.

It was in the corner off the post with power. That’s like saying he shouldn’t ever let a shot in. Ridiculous.

Indeed. The xGOT (if you put any store into these stats) was only 0.3, so should be saved most of the time

It was the same V Serbia, we lucked out because they didn't have the players in midfield

Trent was poor against Serbia, he was out of position and gifted Mitrovic a golden chance.
As always England are lucky. The moment a decent team shows up they're f***ed. Simply give up possession and territory. The moment we play a decent team it's game over. You can't keep giving quality players the ball.

My main issue (out of many) with Southgate is when did he last ever affect a game from the sidelines by a change in tactics or making a sub? Once we start playing badly there's nothing he can do to turn it around, probably because he can't work out the technical reasons for it.

With power but from distance, plenty of time to see it.

All this clamouring for players on the bench, Palmer, Gordon, Watkins etc. I don’t think it matters with the way we’re playing at the moment who is on that pitch. Time for some new ideas. Taxi for Southgate.

The Denmark goal was from 31 metres apparently. Just to put this distance into context that’s 2.5 to 3 London buses. A long way out and plenty of time for Pickford to do much better…..as a more alert and agile keeper would.
