I recently read the Secret Footballer and he openly admits that his teammates did this from every kick off of every game. They could also agree with the other teams captain to give them the kick off so that the kick out of play can be a guarenteed winner for everyone.

As much as I wanted to Barcelona to win, I can't remember seeing a top flight game refereed quite so badly as that. To miss one penalty is a mistake, two is looking a bit bias, 3 something is up surely, 4 has the referee bought a new home recently!?!

I remember the last big shout when Pique handled so blatantly in the box, you did wonder whether the Barca players knew they weren't going to concede a pen that night.

i think it more likly to be spread bets on number and time of throws, corners etc than outright throwing of games.
