Yesterday papers reported that the police are going to block all streams so if you dont have BT SPORT it will mean a visit to pub that does have.

A couple of years ago it was reported on BT's intranet (the internal version of the internet) news page that they had "successfully blocked ALL streams since March (2017)" and would continue to do so. The senior manager was giving himself a hearty slap on the back for being so clever. Meanswhilst, people continued to watch, unaffected.
The truth is, the ISP's can and do block streams (especially free ones found on reddit and the like) but it's much harder to block them on a service you log-in to (usually paid services). If you also run a paid service through a VPN, it becomes almost impossible to block it as they cannot tell what the packets are carrying; even if they could tell you are receiving a stream they don't know whether it's a content thief or location restricted commercial services such as NBC sports which isn't available (officially) in the UK.
The police don't really have anything to do with it unless they are raiding a provider of illicit content, it's all the ISPs.

I dont know I just assumed that one police officer could with the help of BT put something on it that makes streaming impossible

Why on earth would the police be interested in stopping a stream for BT.

Yep. Even if they were interested, they couldn't do it. It's all bullshit (like the government's porn filter rubbish). You can't control the internet.

A "friend" has used a paid for IPTV service for a few years now. Since Christmas its been pretty much unusable without a VPN so they have certainly cracked down on it especially when football is on and especially the non UK televised games for some reason.

The police? Don't they have anything better to do?

If your house got burgled last night and they tell you they have no manpower to attend - Tell them you are illegally streaming the Champions League tonight and they will send someone round sharpish - ''Oh and while you are here Officer'' !!!!

Won’t be The Heath though unless you purchased a wristband before they sold out 3 weeks ago.

My friend uses Helixhosting at €6/month, without a VPN, and tells me he doesn't ever have any problems.

To be fair to BG, if you search ‘BT Sport Stream Police’ then you get a fair few results stating how the Police will attempt to block the streams at critical times and that the Police have issued a warning about using them.

How much they will actually do is to be seen but I wouldn’t be surprised to see a fair few streams/access to sites shut down/blocked today as a bit of a message

Have heard that BT will be live streaming for free on their YouTube channel and on their website

You're a genius, my old school chum! Saves me going round the pub. Thanks very much for putting this alert on here. I'm watching the preamble as I type.

You can watch it on the BT Channel 352 on Virgin.
It's channel 532, and if you have a 4K (Ultra HD) telly, it's in that format.

To a tiny degree it makes up for not being there courtesy of Zavvi. I was one of their customers who got the "winner" email that lead me to think for a short while at least, that I'd won a weekend there watching the match, flights and hotel included!

Did I see right that there are over 100k Spurs and Liverpool fans in Madrid. Allocation of 16k per club and no big screens for the game? Sounds like a recipe for football trouble to me
