The champions league song being sung last night at Nuneaton station and some kid says 'You couldn't even beat Leicester'. Fair play.

OK, and no guarantee we qualify for Europe in any form, but almost all of last season’s Champions League qualifying teams had a mare or two: City losing to Wolves and drawing with Roy’s Palace, Villa losing to Forest and drawing with Wolves and Everton, Liverpool losing to Everton and drawing with Luton. We’ve dropped quite a few points and it’s not even Christmas so he might well be correct but it’s also too early to write us off.

This.

Both chants are fantastic to sing.
Very infectious, even though I didn't want to sing along, because I know that one of them is cursed, I still did.

Some people find it "cringe", I don't, I think it's fun.
Now let me think ....... "fun" that seems to set us up for a massive fall every time or songs that support and encourage? I know which i prefer.
How about a bit of self-deprecating fun, maybe along the lines of :-
Leicester city, Wolverhampton
Ipswich town and Southampton
You'll have hope when you play Brighton
We give points away so easily
Sha la la, la la la la la, Brighton! Sha la la, la la la la la Brighton!
Sha la la, la la la la la, Kings of generosity

Yeah I have no problem with self-deprecating humour in chants either.
Any song that is fun to sing is good for atmosphere, and makes the day better.

However the idea that we set ourselves up for " a massive fall" is a really precious attitude.

Shall we just sing songs when the result is secure, like the Leicester fans did?
Should we not have sung " Bang your drum and you still don't sing" at them either?
You know in case they got the opportunity to sing "it's all gone quiet over there"

At Fulham and Leicester the atmosphere was fantastic when those songs were being sung.
The results didn't pan out - because of the manager and players, not because the fans.

Is this the way to Aston Villa?
Those goals by Leicester were a killer
Fulham away, it was no thriller
Eleventh place awaits for me
👏 I think it would be a great idea to have an alternative version when it goes tits up.

Seem to remember the Stephens our midfielder chant was often changes to "Always gives the ba;ll away" when he was having a mare.

Some of the best ones last season were "are you Luton in disguise" at Roma away and "we scored a goal" at Burnley away

If by precious you mean someone who thinks that some Brighton fans are getting ahead of themselves and personally would prefer to wait until we have actually achieved something before celebrating it then i am guilty as charged m'lud. I think you have me nailed as a person because i do indeed dislike all the tit for tat chants between fans. However i always always join in with all the Albion, Sussex and individual player chants and i never leave a match before applauding the players off of the pitch so perhaps i am not all bad!:)
As an aside how lovely it was to hear and join in with the alternative Albion, Albion, Albion chant.

By precious, I purely mean that fans being cocky and having some egg on their face is a "Massive fall".
It really isn't.

The tit for tat is a constant between fans.
2-0 and you f***ed it up
your not singing anymore
Were going to be coming coming our way whether we've been singing about Europe, or just Albiooooon droning for 90 minutes.

Even if we don't make Europe or the Champions League, those songs are a celebration of the fact, that our tiny club has massive ambition and is mixing it up with the big boys.
It might not happen - but it's great to have a group of fans all singing the same song loud and proud.

I suggest the old Mary Hopkins one from the 70s

Those were the days my friend, we held on to the end
But now we throw away a 2 goal lead.
We argue over subs we use, and the chants we choose.
Those were the days we held on to the end.
La la la, la la la

Can you let me know what song I’m allowed to sing in that case. Maybe let’s wait until the final whistle before we allow ourselves to enjoy ourselves.
I actually never really enjoy myself until the final whistle. I always expect the sky to fall in at any moment - always have. Ive never quite understood the bravado and cockiness of singing anything triumphant until it's in the bag. Ive always thought "have these people not watched football before? "
I know thats not the majority view, but Im really.a bag of nerves while the game is still going on. Unless weve just gone 3-0 up in the 89th minute..... ;-)
