and then two of

McHale Park (Castlebar, which is all seater), Semple Stadium (Thurles 55,000 capacity, 36,000 seating), Gaelic Ground (Limerick 49,500 capacity, 35,000 seating), Páirc Uí Chaoimh (Cork 43,500 19,500 seating), Fitzgerald Stadium (Killarney 43,000 capacity, 9,000 seating)

forgive me if i'm wrong, but don't the GAA take a fairly dim view of football being played at GAA stadiums as well?
The GAA will allow it, if its in the national interest - they'd lose too much public goodwill if they resisted. Croke was used by Ireland while the Aviva was being built on the Lansdowne Road site.

The bigger issue with the ones you've listed, is that they are all falling down. The Irish site outside of Dublin would be Limerick, and would have to be Thomond Park, rather than the bigger, but decrepit Limerick GAA, about half a mile away. thomond is new, with a very modern design, and excellent facilities. The main stands are very (red) Amex. It holds 27k with two open ends, and they have loads of space to add more at one end, and enouggh for a few thousand at the other.

Amusing how Scotland and Wales want naff all to do with a Team GB football squad for the Olympics (despite assurances from UEFA) but are happy to join forces for this. Maybe UEFA should say yeah you can have the tournament as long as you merge and apply as a single federation.

Joint bids on any tournament are just a cheap way of getting guranteed qualification for more than one nation - wrong.

yeah i'm sure you can use 2 in each city......and to be honest there just aren't enough large settlements in any of the 3 countries to really spread it around (like brazil can do)

remember that the euro's will be bigger (in terms of teams) from 2016 so you need 10 stadiums- not 8

probably the logical thing would be to have 2 in each of glasgow, cardiff and dublin and work your way from there

I can't get my head around the 'three hosts' idea. UEFA make two 'host nation' spots available and host a mini-tournament to decide which two nations get them. However, it hardly seems right that one of the host nations would not be represented.*

Otherwise, I think it is a brilliant proposal - especially if Thomond Park is used, which is a fantastic looking stadium.

*EDIT - just noticed the above point about the tournament being extended to 24 teams, in which case three hosts would actually be a workable proposal.

btw their only competition for this appears to be TURKEY who, according to the article on the bbc:

"Turkey's bid is in some disarray already because its FA has been engulfed by allegations of corruption and match-fixing in domestic football, while it also conflicts with Istanbul's bid to land the Olympics in the same year."

So what you're saying is, given the recent choice of hosts for major tournaments there's no point in them applying as Turkey already have it in the bag.

i dont think it should be allowed 2 host nations getting auto quali is bad enough but 3 is a joke, but i guess its the only way they are going to get there

That's great news for everybody in the continent with Glasgow on their 'to visit' list then.

It's actually pretty nice these days. Certainly one of the better cities in Scotland.

If this bid gets accepted then it gives the FA a clear indication of how well respected they are within UEFA. Even clearer if Turkey gets the Euros-that country should not be hosting anything. Same for Ukraine but there must have been some big brown envelopes for that bid to win so anything is possible within UEFA which is probably only slightly less corrupt than FIFA.
