BBC all the way mainly for Dolby Surround (ITV don't have it). Noticed ITV didn't cut to adverts at the final whistle though on Wednesday. Instead went into a rap about superstitions and wearing the same pants and watching the same channel!
4K. How do I get it? If via the iplayer surely it will be behind the TV and I'll hear a goal go in from everyone else on the street screaming.

What annoys me about ITV is the players come out and they go for an ad break. The only break is the break in the atmos that it creates in the kick off build up.

BBC often do a UHD stream through iPlayer if you have a 4K telly. Although I think it can be slightly behind the main broadcast.

This, Really impressed with their UHD iPlayer. (But the delay is a good 20 seconds at least)

Correct.

Another win for the BBC. The ITV player, as well as being flaky in and of itself, also for some bizarre reason doesn’t even output premier content to max consumer levels. A smeary, grainy non UHD image.

BBC meanwhile is outputting in 4K. Beautiful crisp image, stable player. No contest.

What annoys me about ITV is the players come out and they go for an ad break. The only break is the break in the atmos that it creates in the kick off build up.

If you go for this option make sure you don't have anyone neighbours etc. who may audibly celebrate.

You will get an advance warning (20/30 seconds) of a goal if you do...

How long until they shoehorn ads at substitutions or injuries etc?

Is it Sam Matterface who seems to love coming out with these great lines to build up the occasion? You can just tell, the excitement in his voice, that he's been dying to splutter them out for ages and is very proud of his wordsmithery.

My favourite iconic Sam Matterface quote:

I can see it happening that one day sponsors will be paying so much that they will have a 30 second slot for an ad during substitutions and the rules will change to allow it. Sickening.

Some US channels reduce the size of the picture during substitutions/injuries etc and show adverts at the bottom and side of the picture. Works well - gets the ad revenue but doesn't impact watching the game.

Someone must watch and like ITV, is it a North/south divide thing? Or a working class thing?

I don't really watch TV , when I do it is never ITV, unlass like last night its something unmissable and not broadcast anywhere else

It’s a north/south thing. Northerners have the attention span of a two year old and need to get up every 13 minutes for a cuppa and a fag.

Matterface seems to be getting a bit of a kicking, which is a shame because I quite like listening to him – even if it IS Talkshite. I take it his skills haven't transferred to the tellybox?

Roy Keane, really?

I'm with Terry Butcher Tribute Act here. The BBC pundits are mostly made up of the tiresome old boys golfing club who are always far too lazy to do any research into lesser known teams. The ITV pundits are far, far better and interesting, but sadly their commentary is absolutely woeful: Matterface or Tylesley is no sort of choice - they are both shithouse.

The problem is, people don't like adverts. I'd actually turn over to ITV at half time for their pundits if it wasn't for the adverts!

I’d sooner sell a lung than have to watch the final on ITV. I’ve felt that way as long as I can remember but even more so than usual this year on account of their dreadful choice of font for the half time score graphic. Inexcusable.
