No as in not going backwards, fighting a novice and having the nerve to call it a pay per view. There were millions on the table for the Golovkin fight which is incredible for a unproven fighter and the deal fell through because senior wanted to double the ticket prices and dictate who commentates!
I get so frustrated with this as I do genuinely think he is a tremendous talent, I went to watch him win the WBA interim title at the O2 which would have given him a crack at the world title if he would have wanted it, instead he chose to vacate and the standard of opponent since then has been getting progressively worse culminating in this! All the time he has been calling out every name under the sun.
Adam Booth walked out on them and he claims to train himself, and as for the corner, well if the Billy Joe fight is anything to go by he will struggle to get meaningful advice when the chips are down. Its all turned in to a bit of a farce if you ask me and they need a reality check which is why I hope the pay per view numbers bomb for this fight or they will be serving up more of the same for us over the coming years.
On your final comment, you contradict yourself by saying you'd like the PPV to bomb, as that would affectively limit Jrs future promotion to Matchroom or Hayes new venture.
You seem to be a supporter of Jr and paid to see him live etc.
How can Jr be going backwards, if he's tonight fighting for a world title belt, albeit not one that you would rather him compete for.
Hearn initially suggested increasing ticket prices himself, after Eubank Sr enquiries as to how to increase profits.
At DID want his own commentator, that's true, but where's the problem with that?
Eddie offered unfair terms (but with a large pay check), Sr called his bluff and then missed out on the GGG fight.
I can't blame Sr for wanting the best for his son, by not giving in to unfair terms.
Eddie and Frank are essentially Football Agents, nobody likes them, they make too much money and make choices that will benefit themselves before their boxers.
I agree with the Adam Booth thing, that was a palava. Him and Jr just didn't get on. Booth walked out of the gym after Jr lost his rag and essentially told him to F off.
I don't think anyone can judge anything from the Saunders fight.
Jrs first ever 12 round fight, started too late and immediately learnt from it.
Experience won that fight, not talent or ability.
