I hate to be the one to tell you this, but I'm afraid a referendum (and indeed an election) is a poll.

YouGov don't have any agenda, as far as I'm aware, so I'm not sure how they would be 'leading' me. But do explain.

The 2016 referendum was the largest democratic event in UK history which the Uk Government promised to enact ... if the result had been remain you would have expected it to be enacted.

Simply not true.
But I won’t bother trying to counter anymore of your lies, this thread has been derailed too much with you and chuckle-head’s trolling.
I’ll leave you to it.
Flouncy flouncy etc etc.

More lies! Clampy and Nibble never posted on the same thread then ....

I think I did by mistake once or twice. While back now.
I note you don’t mention that the reason I changed user names and didn’t have to put on my profile that I used to be Nibble was that another poster made death threats to me via PM. That something you really want to get involved in?
You made all these claims before and a mod came on and put you straight, so you abused the mod too.
Classy.

A vote for remain wouldn't have required 'enacting' because the status quo would have been maintained.

The issue with brexit is that no-one was asked what kind of brexit they wanted, hence the last three years.

I'm not advocating for the UK to remain, but if you do really believe in democracy, and want government policy to reflect the 'will of the people', you have to establish what this will is. You can say that this was done in 2016, but polling suggests this will has changed. Either way, if you have any doubt as to what the will is, you need to formally ask again, i.e. a referendum.

Ah, playing the victim card. A serial troll makes their bed .. crying to the mods is a bit sad but entirely predictable.

Every Uk election choice was 'enacted' before 2016 including maintaining the status quo until a few privileged, condescending, undemocratic loons decide to try to overturn this UK political norm.

The issue with enacting Brexit is having a government and parliament that doesn't fully believe it should be honoured.

The 'will of the people' is to leave ... how that should be achieved can be established without giving the remain/losers side a second go.

He plays victim cards, he trolls whilst accusing others of his own little scam, he (I do assume a he) acts like a snowflake when he is called a name, but wait til someone like the commie Dave in Prague supports him and all of a sudden he is buoyant with sarcasm, vitriol, patronising,... all in all a bit of a loner needing help I think.

Is there nothing or nobody you won't argue with without actually telling us what it is you want from Brexit? Or are you just so fixated with looking at links that prove your point, when others could find links that disprove your point? What about you? Stop hiding behind links, what is your input?

I have made my position very clear. The referendum was flawed on both sides, it should never have taken place and Brexit needs to be scrapped.
There’s no argument on my part. You wanna get personal that’s fine, but beyond stating the facts I’m trying not to engage in personal arguments.
So, as I stated. I believe the referendum was carried out in an undemocratic way, the 50 + 1 ruling was ridiculous for such a legacy decision as monumental as Brexit.
A Remain or Leave ballot was too binary such a nuanced subject.
Both sides told lies.
It was supposed to be advisory, the law was changed retrospectively to make it binding.
It will ruin the U.K.
It needs to be stopped.

Clear enough for you?

The reason I didn’t answer before is

A- I’ve stated it a million times but you don’t want to listen, you want to argue.
B- I won’t answer people who are consistently rude.

Deal with it.

Goodnight.

It’s not being a snowflake mate, I just think you’re a rude prick.

Every Uk election choice was 'enacted' before 2016 including maintaining the status quo until a few privileged, condescending, undemocratic loons decide to try to overturn this UK political norm.

I don't think it's quite fair to say the government doesn't believe it should be honoured. They have been trying to find a brexit arrangement that works, but have failed (miserably, in most estimations). But this was always going to be difficult when MPs have various ideas of what brexit should look like.

The will of the people was to leave. And if we could have left in 2016, with a leave deal that suited the 52%, we should have. But we were never going to be able to do that with a binary choice referendum.

I don't know if you can now say with confidence that the will of the people 'is' to leave. We are three years hence and a lot has changed, and we know a lot more now.

Yes, 'how' we leave could and should be done without a second referendum. But someone needs to work that out, and I think it would be dangerous to leave that in the hands of the executive alone, because then you really risk undermining democracy. That's where parliament comes in, but then we're back with the issue of having different views represented.

My hope is that the new PM will do a better job of getting parliament to work together towards a brexit deal. But as a democrat I am worried that a brexit of any description may now be against the will of the people. To find that one out, we need another vote.

Were you not talking about people being rude and how you wouldn't reply to them? Priceless

Life is full of little contradictions.

Anyway, I hope you aren’t losing sleep wondering when the counting will be done. Monday don’t forget :)

Bit odd.

Anyway, work has just got lively. Enjoy the rest of your night.

The day you actually tell anyone why Brexit is wrong and you are right, without links, in your own words and make it compelling, is the day I will believe their really is life in contradiction filled idiots.
