So it wasn't there a month ago then?I doubt the rescue centre knew of the problem. It emerged as the kitten grew.
The link explains it started when the kitten's adult teeth started coming through? So it wasn't there a month ago then?
Sounds like the insurance company trying to squirm it's way out of paying up then. Hopefully, when kitten is sorted, ENREST will challenge their decision, via an ombudsman if need be, with a view to being reimbursed for any vets bills incurredThe link explains it started when the kitten's adult teeth started coming through?
As per usual. I don't think pet insurance is worth the paper it's written on (yes, I know it's digital) but dental problems are always exempt.Sounds like the insurance company trying to squirm it's way out of paying up then
I have that covered with my membership of the Dogs' Trust.....
If you have a dog then I would definitely have insurance for the third party liability cover which is typically in the millions. If you go out and Fido is off the lead and eats another dog / attacks a human / causes a fall or RTA you can be liable for any claim in court and possibly lose your house. That's what the liability cover is for.
That's definitely one way of doing it with older animals. The premiums get higher, the excesses more and you'll have built up considerable savings.I have that covered with my membership of the Dogs' Trust.
I'm also in the 'waste of money' camp. When we had our first dog back in 2000 we insured him, and then got stung for excess and 'not covered'. After the first year we cancelled the insurance and instead we paid the premiums each month into a ring-fenced savings account, increasing it as we got more pets.
Over the years we've covered all out animals medical expenses out of that account - and paid for stuff like kennel fees. Currently it's definitely working in our favour as we've got just over £13,000 in there.
Yeah, it worked for us. The catch is of course you don't want to be stung with any bills whilst you're building up the fund. We were lucky that our dog was young and healthy and we'd built up enough so that when he did get old and sick we could cover it.That's definitely one way of doing it with older animals. The premiums get higher, the excesses more and you'll have built up considerable savings.
On the flip side, last year I got a £450 claim paid (minus £99 excess) having only paid about £120 in premium.
EDIT - ignore, covered by Dogs Trust
Used to hang round with Rochdale and Sauly and the brothers back in the Goldstone days.Have LOBBED in some MULLAH. Rochdale is a top chap IRL.
To clear up a couple of bits of mis-information on this thread. Firstly, ENREST is not banned and is welcome back any time. He chose to leave.
Secondly, it's not true to say dental problems are always exempt. Like any insurance policy you need to check the coverages you are buying when you accept the quote and then double check the policy document - you will have a standard 30 days to cancel if you don't agree.
I'm happy to say I have pet insurance, but I have it with a business unit I helped to launch and I knew their products inside out. I'm covered for £5000 worth of 'vet bills' and the only exclusions are:
Previous, existing ongoing and recurring medical conditions and symptoms,
Injuries, illness, or diseases that occur prior to the start date,
Paying for any routine treatment normally recommended by your vet,
Any Costs due to breeding, pregnancy or giving birth.
I suspect they have got TR under a similar clause to the first one in my policy. From the limited information on the Go Fund Me he should be raising a formal complaint which they will have to notify the FCA of. Citizens Advice can help with this for free.
https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/consumer/insurance/problems-with-insurance-policies/your-insurer-refuses-your-claim/#:~:text=If you think your insurer, complaint using their complaints process.
None of that means insurance is 'worthless'. Pet underwriters look at claims experience by type of animal, age and breed among other things to price with the expectation you will probably claim. I claimed last year for a grass seed removal for my cockapoo. It was paid in full and the renewal premium was still decent value. (And there's the thing - value. It's often better to pay a higher premium for better cover. The premium cost race to the bottom means the cheapest insurance covers far less. As Ernest is disabled I suspect he took the cheapest premium which is why I'm happy to lob in and hopefully see NSC add to the pot.)

Welcome back and I hope Terry's treatment goes well.I have to say I haven't been this OVERCOME since I had it OFF with BIG Hilda in the alleyway besides the CLIFTONVILLE (RIP) a few years ago.
I just want to thank EVERYONE who has contributed to my fund and nice that I haven't BEAN forgotten especially by all the HATERS on here.
I wasn't banned by BOZZO or anyone I just took a BRAKE when COVID came and it just became an extended one. I took the time to write a couple of books (both best sellers on Amazon and available there) and things just passed me by.
It's been a rough last couple of years with having to give up my season ticket as not being well enough to go and my mum being diagnosed with dementia but the GENEROSITY of people has put a SIMILE on my face.
