I'd question whether clippety was as good as they say when a new guy walks in, takes over the same team, and is top of the league.
Klopp is a great coach, as he proved at Mainz, BVB and Liverpool.
If he were a shit coach, there wouldn't be a decent team for someone else to have taken over after however many years he was there.

Interesting to see so many mentions of Marco Silva and Thomas Frank – both working wonders with limited budgets. It got me thinking though, what about Unai Emery? Villa seem to have turned into a very tough side under him, and he's getting some serious results.

How much of their success do you think comes down to his tactics, and how much is it down to the squad finally clicking?

Limited budget?

Net Spend 2020-2024
Villa -£252m
Fulham -£135m
Brentford -£120m
Brighton -£63m

Villa are also the 6th highest in Gross spend.
Emery is a very good manager, but he is achieving at about the correct level for the budget.
Franck and Silva, are at clubs that will keep their best talent to stay competitive in the league.

All three are good managers who would probably be achieving the same types of results if they were to switch clubs.

Tbh I think Emery is very much up there but villa are a big club and very wealthy. He's done a remarkable job from where they were when he took over. The fact I work with villa supporters who give me plenty of banter may just have made me NOT include him in my previous post🤣🤣

No doubt Villa supporters will tell you they are a big club. I’ve never met a Villa supporter yet who doesn’t say that, and go on about their glorious history and 1982 and their fantastic stadium, and who isn’t extremely confident about the next game/season/decade blah blah blah. They have an in built arrogance that nothing can shift.
