Chelsea are investigating the controversial video filmed by their midfielder Enzo Fernandez which appeared to show the Argentinian national team celebrating their Copa America triumph by singing a 'racist and discriminatory' chant about their French counterparts.

That is how the French Football Federation (FFF) have described the footage via their president Philippe Diallo while promising to file a legal complaint to FIFA.

Fernandez's Chelsea team-mate Wesley Fofana, who is French and the son of an Ivorian father, took to X (formerly Twitter) to declare the video 'uninhibited racism'.

(Might also involve Ali Mac)

Why were France playing in the Copa Americana?

The full lyrics to the song are: ‘Listen, spread the word, they play in France, but they are all from Angola, they are going to run well, they like to sleep with trans people, their mum is Nigerian, their dad is Cameroonian, but on the passport it says: French.’

A rubbish racist song that doesn't even rhyme. And then they post it on Instagram.

They may be top footballers, but they are pretty dense.

Well, it doesn't rhyme, it doesn't scan - I suppose the acid test is comparing it to the standard of song lyrics frequently proposed on NSC.

It's pretty good by comparison, innit? (a bit iffy on PC I suppose, but they are Johnnie Foreigners after all.......)

Yes, and they obviously have an obsessive interest in them to search out their parent's birth certificates too.

Not only that, only three of the current French squad were born outside France and only one in Angola.

I mean, if you are going to ruin your career with a racist chant at least get it right.

He doesn't need to worry about ruining his career. He's on 200k per week for another 6 or 7 years.

In any other job you'd be sacked for gross misconduct.

This would mean Chelsea having morals - a boat that sailed a long long time ago the same as a lot of clubs unfortunately. No way they will sack an asset they paid 100 million for. He will say sorry the club will put him on a 1 day raciest awareness course and say he’s learnt his lesson.
