Don`t forget all you NSC people to make sure you have worked out your carbon offsets.

If you are travelling a lot by car during the week is it your responsibility to make sure that you offset this at weekends and refrain from car or bus travel. (walk or cycle to Withdean )

Mr Porrit will advise you if you know nothing on the subject as he is Mr Blairs advisor though Mr Blair does not seem keen on listening to him just at the moment.

So remember start offsetting now.

Cheap flights ?

what is the point in us worrying about carbon offsetting, when India and China are spewing 3x more crap into the atmosphere now than we are.

I think all this environmental stuff is just a great new excuse to tax us more.

So we shouldn't jail murderers if they've only killed one person because with wars going what's the point of protecting life?

Houses give off more carbon emissions than cars.
Do you want to give up your fridges, freezers and washing machines?

No the point is unless we can persuade the developing 3rd world and the Americans to push for more environmentally friendly industries anything we try to achieve will be a splash in the ocean - which co-incidentally will be what the south of england will be according to the EEC report. We couldnt even get the Americans to sign The Kyoto FFS...

the developing world have huge populations to feed, run and keep happy...they dont give a stuff about rising tides in Europe.

This is bollocks. COWS create the most carbon emissions ...

quote

Livestock are responsible for 18 per cent of the greenhouse gases that cause global warming, more than cars, planes and all other forms of transport put together.

Burning fuel to produce fertiliser to grow feed, to produce meat and to transport it - and clearing vegetation for grazing - produces 9 per cent of all emissions of carbon dioxide, the most common greenhouse gas. And their wind and manure emit more than one third of emissions of another, methane, which warms the world 20 times faster than carbon dioxide.

Livestock also produces more than 100 other polluting gases, including more than two-thirds of the world's emissions of ammonia, one of the main causes of acid rain.
