Interesting.... I'd love this to be in addition to keeping Biss, but I cant see us spending that sort of money on a low priority position unless someone is leaving.

I'd like that scenario too, but just can't see that this is the case. Mwepu looks the type of almost like for like replacement for Yves. We should now have a very good group of midfielders that can mitigate ( to a degree) the loss of Yves whilst in Moder, Caicedo and Mwepu (if he does join) players whose value will no doubt increase due to their youth and talent. The problem with Yves is that if we don't sell this window, his value will decrease due to the length of his existing contract, whereas with White this isn't the case. I expect that both will go but the good news is that it seems as if we are strengthening the squad with some of the proceeds.

Possibly. But not necessarily… we do have a ton of outgoings and money being saved on the wage bill, even without considering possible exits for Biss and/or White.

We’re not complete paupers, there will be money to spend for the right player. See Nunez and Gonzalez.

Think he played well for the most part, the exception being when he was tried as LWB.

He played ‘ok’ I think.

Didn’t do anything massively wrong and probably needs a run of games in the side to get up to speed but his passing and his movement didn’t seem as crisp and assured as he had the previous season.

Probably expecting too much after very promising signs during Potter’s first season but I certainly think he is still an important player for us.

Not to 'hate' on him but never quite saw the Alzate thing. Thought he did OK / well enough but at the crucial moments often made the wrong choice. But still young so time to develop, but we've had a few to many 'passengers' in the last 2 seasons in my opinion so need to add some quality

If Mwepu comes in then he's only going to be further limiting the playing time of Moder, Caicedo, Alzate, Gross, Molumby, Lallana and we'll end up with the same problem we had before of too many players in the same position.

Alzate, Groß & Lallana were partners for Bissouma, they’ll be potential partners for this new fella next season I suspect.

When Biss was suspended or injured, White generally filled in. He reckon he is a goner too!
So more cover is needed.

I think Molumby will be loaned or sold having failed to light the touch paper at Preston. Caicedo might be loaned too but young Moder should stand a good chance of breaking into the first team as a centre midfielder.

Back to the new guy, he must be quality if this sort of thing is true: “Mwepu has also been linked with a move to Germany with Borussia Dortmund now under his former coach Marco Rose and RB Leipzig (Salzburg’s sister club) said to be interested.”

Are there? As far as I've seen reported the deal had potential bonus payments up to 2 million euros. Not even guaranteed and a pittance.

Whatever way it's spun, we let him go for (next to) nothing.

Of those you mention, I'd imagine Molumby won't be with us next season (and note, he was the only one that wasn't with us during 2021), but we've lost Propper and hopefully will also lose Bissouma. Six CMs sounds about right to me, especially as those that you mention are versatile.

Moder, the only player good enough to score against England in their last ~1,000 minutes of competitive football? Yeah, I reckon we can find a place for him. :albion2:

Quite a big claim. Outsiders always underestimate how much of a step up it is into the PL. I’ll take with a pinch of salt I think.
