[Albion] Enhancing Matchday Atmosphere

Only way atmosphere improves is with a bit of organisation to get various vocal groups together in one block, and they become the ones who initiate the songs/atmosphere for others to follow. Otherwise it stays a mess. If this is genuine from the FAB they should be contacting groups and helping to coordinate this.

I cannot see anything coming of this even if I do appreciate the sentiment behind this. None of the options in the survey really appeal to me.

I am one of those rare people who actually thinks the atmosphere is not that bad at the Amex. The reason why I think the atmosphere is good at the Amex is that when it does get going it is an organic thing and not the result of some performative tin-pottery from a self selecting bunch of attention seekers (mentioning no names cougHF!)

We have a reasonable songbook with established favourites that most people can join in with and a few newer ones that do require a little bit of attention to pick up but we get there.

I'm always trying to join with the singing from elsewhere in the ground and I am not fussed if it is just me and a few others nearby, the rest join at the crucial times during the game.

I'd hardly describe the Amex as a cauldron but it is no library either.

'Flags in the North (Forest Cup game)
We have 250 2ftX3ft flags to distribute before the match (and collect after the game) for the Forest FA Cup game in the North Stand and would like to know the names & seat numbers of those who would like to wave a flag for that game.'

To be fair, the flags seem to be quite decent sized. Maximum effect tho would be if they were to be placed on specific seats, rather than just randomly distributed on request shirley
When a relatively small number flags are all exactly the same, ie planted, I think it looks a bit naff. Contrived. Like those at Chelsea and Arsenal when they score. Either go big (the whole stand or stadium) or go home eg leave it to fans to bring their own so they’re all different. That looks cool, sadly English football rarely does this and certainly Brighton never has.

The giant flag at Withdean was pretty impressive IMHO

On the Border
Song 1

Albion, Albion, Albion, Albion, Albion

Song 2

Seagulls, Seagulls, Seagulls, Seagulls

For these starter songs, please open the app 5 days before the game, and practice for a minimum of 10 minutes daily

Once mastered, you will be able to move onto the more difficult ones. Please prepare carefully for the next one, as you will need to know your left and right.

Do we really need a songbook

We DO NOT need a songbook on an app. I have never in the 1330 football matches I have attended in my life, ever been handed a songbook.
Unfortunately I cannot say the same. After major knee surgery a few years ago (2015/16 season), I was temporarily relocated to the ESU so I could use the lift. There was a guy walking around the ESU offering song sheets to people at one match. Needless to say I politely declined.

When you are an away fan then you learn the songs easily enough. I imagine the same is true if you sit in the north stand.

If, however, like me you are a STH in another stand, who can't often get to away games then you rarely hear the newer songs clearly enough to learn the words.

That said, an official and therefore sanitised songbook would not help much, the best songs are often rude. Also I wouldn't try to read from an app whilst at the ground either.

An unofficial and therefore NSFW songbook would be of interest for me so I could know the current words. How often I would sing about being manually handled in Amsterdam is another thing. But I would like the option.

Not sure my views help improve the atmosphere at home matches though.

Appreciate a song book isn't the most effective idea, but good on them for trying to change things.

People are quick to shoot down ideas, whilst still continuing to complain about the atmosphere. In my experience, a lot of the people complaining, are the ones sat down in silence in the first place.

Lots of massive European teams have drums, flags, scarves etc, and those spectacles can be phenominal. Many of these ideas we shoot down becuase of old habits and preconceived ideas.

Yes, 250 small flags in the north stand won't be a match for the Yellow Wall in Dortmund, but you have to start somewhere. We shoot down ideas that lots of clubs utilise, because it won't be to the same scale straight away.

Just disappointed at how quickly some people in this thread have shot down someone trying to make a difference, with no real suggestions of themselves. Crossing your arms and complaining is only going to make matters worse.

The first point of call should be unifying both sides of the North Stand, so we don't have this silly divide in songs which has been going on for years.

TLDR - Being closed minded wont get us anywhere.
