I'm rather happy with this current starting XI, Although I would like to see Bopara in at the expense of either Collingwood or Wright and if Simon Jones was fit, which doesn't ever look like happening I'd have him in for Anderson...

Pietersen
Flintoff

Wright/Collingwood

Harmison
Jones/Anderson

Capable of being a very good one day side indeed... Obviously you would put Panesar in at XI if it was a spinners wicket!

I assume you are only talking about ODIs, in which case I wouldn't have Panesar anywhere near the team. He averages 40 with the ball in ODIs. There's a reason that he hardly ever played for Northants in one day games as well.

I'm not sure who there is in terms of spinners; Swann never looks dangerous but does a pretty decent job of containing. Or maybe it will be used as a way for young spinners like Davies, Rashid or another to work their way in towards the Test side.

so, have we suddenly become really good at cricket again or are the Sooth Ifricans just taking the piss?

I doubt we've got good all of a sudden, but if we can keep it up, a bit of momentum going into the Ashes would be nice.

That said, I'd feel a bit more confident if KP was spanking them about the park...

I think it's a bit of both; we've definitely improved from some of the shite we've played recently in ODIs, but the Saffers have let the foot off the pedal in a serious way. The positive approach of Pietersen, and the way he's engendering that throughout the side, is making us significantly better.
