What are the chances Molumby gets on?

Ireland are terrible

Yes they are. Connolly might be doing his international career a power of good by missing this group of games.

Edit Molumby coming on....

Serious question who is Bellingham? and who is Saka?

Is Google down?

Bellingham was so good for Birmingham City that they sold him to Dortmund and retired his number even though he’s only 17. Saka has been a very regular fixture for Arsenal and played against us at the Amex in the lockdown Maupay game

Molumby has looked more at home in this game than Duffy.

Bellingham is a midfielder that did well in Birmingham last season, then they sold him to Dortmund for £35m or something like that. Been really good in Dortmund the games Ive seen him in.

I had him in my "if I was Southgate" squad posted a few weeks ago:

This is my England selection:

GK: Karl Darlow, Alex McCarthy, Ben Foster

Defenders: Ben Chilwell, Solly March, Conor Coady, Lewis Dunk, Maximilian Kilman, Tyrone Mings, Reece James, Tariq Lamptey, Kieran Trippier

Midfielders: Jack Grealish, Mason Mount, Ross Barkley, Jordan Henderson, Jude Bellingham, James Ward-Prowse, Declan Rice, Raheem Sterling, Jadon Sancho, Michail Antonio

Strikers: Harry Kane, Jamie Vardy, Marcus Rashford, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Danny Ings

Just outside the squad: Trent Alexander-Arnold, Matthew Cash, Bukayo Saka, James Tarkowski, Kalvin Phillips, Yunus Musah, Ollie Watkins, Patrick Bamford

Ireland are terrible. They used to be the next best of the home nations but the last 18 months or so they’ve been beyond bad. They offer nothing

Could still be the second best as they are all in a pretty bad spot these days. Wales got a lot of talent but still think Ireland would beat them most days.

Whatever other things we disagree on, your football knowledge is decent. The fact that a Swede can write in better English than many on here who are natives and know about England players in much more detail than many of our “fans” is impressive. Take a bow, son.

The Irish team is a team in transition - there is a lot of deadwood that needs removing but the kids aren't mature enough to take their places yet. Saying that - they are better than that performance - Kenny is out of his depth as manager. International football is not the League of Ireland.

If thats a childish dig because I asked about Bellingham and Saka, I dont confess to being and England fan and I rarely watch them now, especially a meaningless friendly.

2020 continues to give as Southgate swaps his waistcoat for a comfy cardigan

My teenage son asked me who were Ireland’s greatest players, in terms of quality at the very highest level.

I said Roy Keane and Liam Brady (eg proved himself at Juve), also Paul McGrath but the demon alcohol took its toll. Later thinking of Johnny Giles too. Ronnie Whelan won the lot.

As a proud Irishman, any other candidates in that company?

Denis Irwin should be on the list.
