You feel sorry for Dunk on a personal level but from a Brighton perspective I'd prefer he had the summer off to recuperate properly after a tough season. Apart from a nice warm feeling inside, we've nothing really to gain from him going to Germany. It's not like he's a kid who could significantly increase his transfer value by getting a few England games. Let's look at the positives!

In both games - Rome and Wembley - if Dunk puts the ball out on our left then there’s no goal. Pace doesn’t come into it, he should have been in control of both situations.

I meant Southgate’s obsession with Mings, not just fancying his big left foot :)

On this occasion he did try to put it out with a sliding tackle, he just didn’t get a good enough connection on it. He didn’t try anything fancy, he just didn’t want a physical tussle with Lukaku.
Went with the wrong foot though. My original point was a left footed player doesn’t do that.

He didn’t need to slide though. I still have no idea why he did. Putting the ball into touch was the bare minimum there. An international player should really just be taking a touch and passing it back to the keeper to retain possession.

So he'll probably get until the 67th minute at least to redeem himself.

Even with the injuries at the back, it feels a little bit like last chance saloon.

Wouldn’t being part of a summer tournament England camp be the ultimate?

Not only Chilwell (The actual worst defender on the pitch) but watching the replay, Rice just watches Tielemans sprint past him after the initial cross to Lukaku, no attempt to get back and cover Tielemans run

Lazy C4 analysis in the game and at HT, too busy with zzzzz ads.

Rice, Gomez and Konsa all have questions to answer for goal 2. Dunk’s blunder in no way gave rise to a certain goal.

Bellingham is obviously a fabulous player but he misses a lot of chances

He didn’t need to slide, no. But if he didn’t slide he’d have ended up with Lukaku breathing down his neck after his first touch and then been in a physical battle. He was obviously trying to avoid that. Not sure how you can have no idea why he slid? It’s pretty obvious.

All big players miss a lot of chances. But as they’re the better players, they tend to get more chances to miss.

He’s just having one of those nights. As an England fan, I’d prefer he does it tonight than in the Euros!
