I feel a bit like this.

Hate it in sport where they try to contrive a perfect ending for a particular player.

No need to be asking anything other than what is our best team to win this game now. If Jimmy is in that, and I think he is, play him. Then do the same for the next game and so on

If his career ends in some ignominious way because of a crap performance or injury, so be it. That's sport

Plus the Test series against Sri Lanka starts (at Old Trafford) just days after the hundred final. Who knows what physical and mental condition the England bowlers participating will be in. .... What with the immense physical and emotional demands that august* competition puts on players.

*most of August

oooh another one, hoorah.

Ahh, the challenges of elite sport. Not sure how they keep the intensity up

That's a Stokes of a catch from Harry Brook...and almost a Broad of a reaction from Stokes

Jimmy Anderson had 26 test wickets before Shoaib Bashir was born.
He had 395 first class wickets before Lamine Yamal (Spain’s hero last night) was born

Lunch, Day One

West Indies 61-3 (28 overs)

Slow progress from the Windies, with 2 wickets for Gus Atkinson and 1 for Ben Stokes... a decent morning for England having inserted.

An almost " seamless " transfer of power from Anderson to Atkinson ! The King is Dead, Long live the King !
