England V Switzerland

Why don't we syche (mispelling) Rooney to take on the opposition, and then the rest can just prat around.

At times the 10 man side were nearly embarrasing England
.

Poor ref.

I assume Rooney will get booked again.

Who will replace him.

Lets hope Owen gets some form.

Liverpool= Crap.

I didn't think England were negative at all, not many 'negative' sides score three goals. It certainly wasn't a classic, we were poor in certain areas and David 'Dracula' James needs some confidence bu hey, we won 3-0 and we DO have a habit of tripping up against the so-called 'lesser' teams.

The Swiss are like so many international sides: quite-good players working well as a unit with no real stars. 1-0 would have been a good result

Yesterdays game was like watching the Albion. Panic striken hoofs out of defence, no real cohesion in the midfield with the ball often being given cheaply away. Not many attacks on goal, yet we win 3-0 and you can't really explain how we did it. It really reminded me of the 3-0 win over Blackpool last year.
I guess it worked out for us in the end with a 1-0 win in the final. Here's hoping England can do the same!

Cheer up! If France had scrored our 3rd goal with about 20 passes in the run up and great running off the ball, everyone would be saying what fantasy football they were playing.
We did really well, and turned it on in the end, just how it should be.

Agree about the third goal, for me it's easily the best goal of the tournament so far. Great passing move, reminded me of Japan's goal against us recently.

I watched the game today knowing we won 3-0 & hence not being wound up & screaming at the TV. I thought England looked pretty comfortable. The way we play means that the opposition will have more possession, but Switzerland had one shot on target (comfortable for the keeper) & apart from a couple of inswinging free-kicks at 0-0 they never looked like scoring. As I predicted ( :cool: ) Rooney is looking like a class act at this level & could well be the star of the tournament. All the pre-tournament stuff about Henry, who hasn't scored yet - it's Rooney who is the star from the Premiership.

And in all honesty, if you go on performances then England have more reason to be happy than the French. Without bad backpasses (and a Trezuguet handball thrown in for good measure) they would be stuck on one point. Croatia were unlucky not to beat them & we deserved to beat them.

We have a real chance of winning this tournament
