Only just realised Dele Ali was playing
Good postWe're much better than (miserable) fans thought before the WC, but we're no way in the world's top 4. Even Belgium's reserves were better than us in the WC.
A cliche, but we still lack that instinctive creator in CM, who could run games. Gazza was the last.
Conversely, Spain have so much talent in depth and are far better than schadenfreude English fans thought in writing them off in the summer as has-beens.
About 10th would be my guess.
The goalkeeper wasn’t challenged. Welbeck didn’t move!
It's a foul unfortunately according to the laws
"IFAB's Law on indirect free kick offences says that:
[a] goalkeeper is considered to be in control of the ball when:
the ball is between the hands or between the hand and any surface (e.g. ground, own body) or by touching it with any part of the hands or arms except if the ball rebounds accidentally from the goalkeeper or the goalkeeper has made a save
...
In the situation described in the question, the goalkeeper is deemed to be in control of the ball.
The attacker would be committing a foul, since according to the same Law,
[a] goalkeeper cannot be challenged by an opponent when in control of the ball with the hands."
Wrong he was challenged no different than it had come down on one of his own players. You can’t be deemed to be in control When in the air coming down on a player who’s stationary
England are improving and OK in most areas, but for me Dele Alli is one of the worst players in the top half of the Premier League and should be nowhere near an England team. He’s a total tart. Goes missing for 20 minutes at a time and then shows up to do some flimsy flick or trick that never comes to anything. To pair a lightweight like Alli in midfield with another little boy like Lingard is a joke. If that’s two of your three in midfield you’ll never beat a decent team. Lingard has more to his game than Alli and I wouldn’t write him off but he shares some of the same weaknesses. Elsewhere we’ve largely got some good players who have plenty of potential, but the midfield needs ripping up. We need a leader in Henderson’s place, another strong player alongside him and someone with the ability to pass and dictate the game in front of them.
You clearly can, as the referee just deemed that to be the case!
