If they get a lead of 150 we will have to bat pretty well to save this.

Was driving home from work listening to TMS and nearly drove off the road, Boycott and Vaughn are a couple of dour , miserable gits today.

After day one, some of the pundits were saying that the SA players were undercooked and that England would take the series 3-0. They must be wishing they'd kept quiet now....

Amla is a batting god and Kallis is the same immobile rock he's been his entire career. Simply two greats of the game.

yes but what they stupidly forgot about was the batting weather and the shittest pitch I've seen for a long time. really boring game of cricket is this one.

It's exactly the type of pitch you get in the Windies / India when you go 1 down in the series. Flat as a pancake and Batting records galore. Oh, and Draws.

Hashim Amla 303* (515 balls)

The first South African to get 300 in a Test Match.

And the first triple century in a Test match in England for 22 years.

Having listened to the experts saying on Thursday that although a fair batting wicket there will be enough in the track for the bowlers does raise a smile now.

43 overs remaining in the day... that should give them something like 30 at England... we will be batting under a lot of pressure!

Bold move from captain Smith... South Africa have declared at tea with their first innings lead of 252.

This Oval wicket is an absolute MINEFIELD!

Trott gets an UNPLAYABLE delivery from World Number One bowler Dale Steyn.

32-2
