Sussex have one of weakest sides ever and our 2 best players are serving drinks at the test match. How do you think PL and ST holders would react if FA said international players could not play for clubs. I am a cricket lover but no wonder people are losing interest when cant see best players.

Strictly speaking we wouldn't be able to see them play for Sussex at the moment even if they could.

To be fair, if you're going to be served drinks on a warm summer's day then Robinsons or Archers are two decent options.

Especially if you like peach.

:clap2:

That gag is absolutely wasted on a niche thread like this......

Not even trying to get the set batsman out, 30 partnership so far and Abbas has 0 from 14 balls. Poor. Don’t think England have bowled well today at all to be honest.

Off again. Test cricket is an absolute disgrace.

I know there’s no crowds now, but dwindling test crowds generally globally, but still the old duffers running the game have no idea how to progress regulations so this shit can’t happen.

Millions of pounds have gone into getting this series on and the muppets in charge can’t make a good decision to save their lives, we lose nearly the whole morning session to bad weather they then play an hour session during the best light hours of the day and go off for 40 minute lunch break after an hours play, they then take the players off for bad light then resume in light conditions that look exactly the same and then take them off again 5 minutes after resuming. Rizwan didn’t seem to have many issues seeing the ball when he was crushing that cover drive.

Absolutely farcical, totally beyond comprehension.

To be fair, in these weird times, it is at least comforting to see that decisions on light/rain in cricket are as random as ever. And they are as ridiculous about lunch/tea timings as they have always been

Given that the Forecast is for rain around 2PM any chance of a 10.30AM start and play through Lunch, essentially until the rain comes and play is abandoned?

Nah, didn't think so. I'll bet they have drinks breaks as well, well it will be 21 degrees later on, I couldn't play in that without rehydrating...

Bloody Worthing!
Agree with the comments above. You do worry about cricket. If it's fighting for column inches then the optics don't look good on a day of the 8-2 defeat of Barca and a new world record was set in the men's 5000 metres. Meanwhile our cricketers spent the day running in and out of the pavilion.

Weather was always going to be an issue in this test, so with no fans in the stadium why not make play possible between 9am and 7pm? It just feels like those in charge are so rigid to the archaic rules that the game is dying a slow death. We knew the forecast was for on off rain and bad light issues days before this test, millions going into getting the series on with players spending weeks away from family etc, if you aren’t going to make every effort to get games complete then why bother with all the effort?

We need to find a way to sort the issues out, ridiculous that test cricket rules refuse to evolve with other sports.

Seriously?

1, Run outs reviewed by third umpire
2. Hawkeye for LBW
3. Snicko for edges
4. Review of catches
5. Review of 4s and 6s if not clear
6. No balls now called by third umpire
7. Light meters used for bad light
8. Use of floodlights
9. Day/Night tests

But Test Cricket needs to evolve like other sports, rather than adopting technology far quicker than other sports.

I said test cricket RULES, the simple fact is they don’t do everything they possibly could to get as much play done as possible, if you see a day is going to be rained off almost certainly like we knew in this match then find a way to fit more overs in on days where the weather conditions are perfect, bad light constantly causes issues in English summers, so start play earlier if needed.

The West Indies series there was a game where nearly an entire day is rained off, they have hundreds of overs to make up and yet still they start at 11am  It’s ridiculous, where is the common sense? The simple fact we can do a day night test and yet we can’t start play due to bad light at 11am in itself is utter hilarity and makes test cricket look totally moronic.
