Collingwoods place must be under serious threat...

Bell needs some runs also, but i would give him a bit more time.

None of the the top 6 have their places under threat. Who exactly is demanding to be selected by the sheer volume of runs they've accumulated in county cricket?
Have I missed something?
Ambrose, however, is due a score. Even a patient 30 in a 100 partnership with Pietersen would do. No need to panic, even 225 wouldn't be bad.

Not Prior in the team just as a batsmen? Leading scorer in the Championship Division 1, averaging over 70, and has some test experience. Would make a decent close fielder. but offers nothing with the ball if he did replace Collingwood lets say

KP is a brilliant batsman but to become a true great he needs to learn how to make massive hundreds like Tendulkar, Lara et al. Need to stay only 6 down overnight and try and get Ambrose and Broad to get a partnership going.

273/7 at stumps. I'd say England have shaded the day.

NZ will be gutted at foregoing a position of winning the toss and then having us 80/5. England are only 6 runs short of equalling the best score here by anyone all season, and they still have Sidebottom in the hutch.

As for KP not being a true great, his century/matches played % is better than Tendulkar's or Lara's.

In 3 years he's already more than halfway to beating the all-time England record of 22 tons. Hammond got 22 in 85, at this rate Pietersen will be there in just 71 tests.

The establishment of whether Pietersen is great or not is simply a matter of time. Provided he does for the next 3 years what he's done for the last 3 years there will be no disputing he will then be in the same league as Lara and Tendulkar.

KP has notched up a 226 and 3 x 158s...I think he's well on the way to becoming a true great.

As for this test it's nicely balanced and they might edge a 1st innings lead but I still think we'll win by 150 odd.

And Sky did a great graphic on conversion rate and KP was third behind Bradman and one other - forget who.

Not to mention he has one Test double century, and three other Test scores of 158 (against Australia twice and Sri Lanka), so it's not as though he regularly gets out as soon as he's hit the hundred.

To be fair, like.

England trying to build a score with the tail end.

Broad has just edged two balls, one easy chance put down at second slip and played and missed one.

Lets hope he connects to a few and gets us over 300.
