we really are desperately poor everywhere on the pitch with the exception of the back four - on this performance one of the most inept sides in the tournament in terms of basic skills. In fairness Hodgson has done well tactically to get us to this position - played to the limited strengths that we have. Fair enough but there is a long long way to go before English football can compete at this level other than through guts and determination. Disappointing. Despite the fact that we all knew it before the competition began you always hope so it's always upsetting. I guess we have to try to enjoy the fact that we kept it tight and hope for penalties and the Italians might just blow it instead of us...........just this once.............please.
