Can someone explain why we've declared? KP scored 16 off the first 4 balls of that over, why not keep going. I know it's nice to have half an hour at them this evening, but surely we'd rather have a chance of making them follow on?

Should have let KP have his head and take the 30-50 runs he would have been capable of getting tonight. I think we are forgetting the Indian Run Machine

Great reception for the little master. As much as I obviously want England to win this game, I'd love to see Tendulkar get his 100th 100 @ Lords.

Still a long way to go but England to win at 9/4 currently looks a bit overpriced to me. India are still acclimatising, weather looks good for next 2 days, might stick £10 on

Apologies if this has been mentioned elsewhere but why on gods earth is Broad still in the side??

9-2-25-3

Mukund................ b. Broad 49
Gambhir............... b. Broad 15
Tendulkar c.Swann b. Broad 34

and Laxman dropped by the skipper at first slip.

Watching the highlights now.

Some terrific bowling from Broad today  and batting from Dravid, to be fair. India have some IMMENSE batsmen in their side when you look at the bare stats.

So what do we think England's tactics should be? I say bat normally and aim to get to lunch with a lead of 290-odd. If we get there with 2 or less wickets down I say blitz it after lunch and aim to declare and have 4 or 5 overs before tea. I'd target a lead of between 400-450.

I hope Strauss doesn't leave the declaration too late, i.e. less than an hour before the close of play. Having Sehwag out of the line-up makes a massive difference in what total the Indians are capable of.

Cook gone... good movement from Kumar, and caught behind... England 211-1

I'm HOPING England can accumulate steadily... bat for 70-75 overs today... lead by 425 or so... and get them in for a nasty session against the new ball before the close.

Strauss and Pietersen gone in quick succession... 55-3 (leading by 243)

All four results are back in play... perhaps a declaration won't be necessary!
