Just feel that Roy has been too suspect tactically and with team selection and he sat on his hands all the way through that last match, during which, for me, England played their worst competitive game since I started watching them even if I include times we didn't qualify. You couldn't even say we were unlucky, we fully deserved what we got.

i feel a little sorry for Hodgson, because he was pressured into playing a way that wasnt his natural style. if he'd played in the style of that Fulham season, we'd probably had a sting of dull but effective 1-0 wins. he's compelled to put out a more attacking team, and frankly needs to with the poor defense options, and it looked ok with some decent forward play. end of the day though, the players let him down tonight not putting in the effort for that pace and pressure we did the first three games, while not having a plan B tight and organised option.

What was disappointing was that the two full backs who seemed to be the ones unlocking defences and creating chances in earlier games. How easy they were nullified by Iceland's set up.

Joe Hart, so many people could see that he is a liability. As soon as he made that mistake, the England players. You could see in their heads they were reading the newspaper headlines the next day and it affected the second half performance. Instead they should have been thinking ''lets make sure they are not writing these headlines and lets pull this back in the 2nd half''

It is worth noting that the one standout team in Spain at the moment is Athletico where Simeone does not tolerate prima donnas and big money players - and a lot of his team are not Spanish,

Italian football is in serious crisis because there is no money - Conte has shown to be a good manager by getting the best from what he has - the main Italian striker couldn't get a game at Sunderland. The backbone of the Italian team are the Juve defence - and they are all over 30 and won't be around for long more.

The globalisation of football is leading to club football dominating over international football and money is determining everything - and Sky's money is wrecking football in England.

Last country - Germany - football in Germany is organised differently to the rest of the world in who owns the teams, how the game is organised and how it is funded. Germany are streets ahead of the rest of Europe in how they run their football and that is why their national team is always near the top and why their club teams always do well.

France have some good players but most of those are not actually French - they come from French colonies and usually from very poor backgrounds who see football as a way out of poverty and learn their football on the streets rather than a PlayStation.

There is a levelling of international football and teams like Iceland will pop up regularly and outplay the likes of England. If you really want to see a minnow - look up the results of the Faroe Islands - a country with a population of 15,000 people - over the past ten or so years - and you will see how a team first mentality can compete with monied football.
