Nothing on BBC but hopefully he is OK. You have to take extreme precautions with neck injuries as they are neigh on impossible to diagnose at the scene and one false move may compound the issue.

It's called a try because back in the day, touching the ball down over the line let you have a 'try' at kicking the ball at goal, which was the only way you'd actually score points.
