I love it how people expect refs and umpires to get it right every time. You should try concentrating for hours and even days. Your mind has to wander on occasions, especially after a dull spell of play.

What are you going on about!?!

The umpire DID GET IT RIGHT!!!

That's why we're up in arms!!!

If you don't know what's being discussed, it's probably best not to get involved!

The irony is that hot spot was showing Root didn't touch his dismissal, and while TV were looking at that, the system couldn't record Trott's.

Cook told Root not to review, but Root didn't bloody hit it by the looks of things. But even though we didn't review that, Trott's out because a) idiot 3rd umpire b) hotspot is busy confirming Root didn't hit it!!!

FFS MURRAY!!! :ffsparr:

That is indeed pretty ironic.

Surely Root DID get a feather on it though, regardless of whether hotspot picked it up, or he would have insisted on reviewing it?

Well possibly, but he did genuinely look non-plussed, it wasn't a typical review straight away, or look of guilt, he looked at Cook saying "I really don't know"....

He may have touched that - but the review system (had it been used) was not conclusive, so I'm not complaining about that one, but as you say, a cruel irony all the same.

I don't understand the Trott dismissal.

He clearly hit it - is the third umpire only allowed to adjudicate on where it pitched and whether it would hit? Did he look at the slo mo replays?

Very odd.

Whilst the controversy rages on England have just batted through that session and turned the deficit into a 15-run lead. A crucial session. If even 1 wicket had fallen the Aussies would have felt they were on top. Superb discipline, especially from KP who reined in his normal game when he needed to.

The ball is now old and the pitch is drying out. The game is evenly poised, but the bookies have us slight favourites.

So Matt Prior is only 'probably not a bottler'? the guy who is easily the best wicket-keeper/batsman in the world? And who has bailed England out of tougher situations than this numerous times? That's big of you.

Has Sangakaara retired or something. Prior's a good keeper (as he showed again, making tough catches look easy) and a decent batsman but as long as Kumar is around he clearly isn't the best in the world.

Doni also exists... Maybe Prior is the best specialist test wicketkeeper batsmen ;)

Sangakkara doesn't keep wicket in test's and hasn't done since about 2009, Prior doesn't play in ODI's, so it is fair to say, in the test format at least, that Prior is the best wicket keeper/batsman in the world right now.
