And so it begins. Burns gone half fending at a short ball, looped up for an easy catch. 19:1

The mission is straightforward - defend the good balls, put away the bad balls, break the day up into small units of time. If we can't bat out the day when they've only got 4 bowlers we have problems.

The wit and wisdom of Boycott on 5 Live Extra 'if you don't have to play anything, don't'. Always worked for him. So much so, that his own team used to try and get him run out

I wouldn’t say straight forward, they have Lyon on a ripper of a spinning pitch against an out of form England batting order, Roy is playing an unnatural game to him and that will get him out, Buttler Bairstow and Ali are out of form and naturally attacking players, Root and Stokes are our only players who you feel have the grit to bat the day IMO.

In today's situation, he is right, though.

Disagree with @pav above, who said all we need to do is 'defend the good balls, and put away the bad balls'. There is literally no need at all to 'put away' anything. A shocking long-hop down the leg side, is better completely ignored, than trying to smash it away for six, if there's even the tiniest chance of offering up a catch.

This has to be the record for the most decisions over turned against one umpire? 7 of umpire Wilson’s decisions have been overturned on review. Unbelievable.

Will be interesting to see the stats for how many overturned given outs for each team have been given.

Just wait for the new PL season and VAR, you just know that Mike Dean will be way out in front on overturned decisions
