im worried about the aussies, we've had a good sporting run against them recently, the Ashes, Th 20/20 world cup and more Golds in the Olympics. Just imagine if they bwon against England in the one game we care most about!

I think a lot of people are giving Australia FAR too much respect. They narrowly slunk past NEW ZEALAND the other day. Nothing to worry about.
Agreed, they're the fourth best team in that group - Serbia and Germany should easily qualify though if Ghana adapt better to the conditions and have crowds behind them they might cause them some problems.

I agree too. They are poor at best. Two of their three strikers also have fitness problems. Would not be surprised to see them lose every game and I hope they do.

Brett - you think Germany won't be good enough to top a fairly average group but will be good enough to beat us (France certainly won't be) ?

You're so anti-English, you Chinese wanker.

This

Germany will top that group, especially now Essien is out of the Ghana squad. I would put money on England beating anyone in that group anyway. I agree with Motty - out in the semi's to Brazil for us. But then, with Capello in charge you never know.

Sorry for this, but if you bet on that you're indeed a mug. Haven't you got any confidence in us whatsoever?

I'm confident we will better our last two WC efforts and go one stage further. You think we can win it then?

Get a first eleven playing well and unchanged and we can go all the way. I have a lot of faith in Capello even if the names on the teamsheet don't fill me with confidence.

In some ways the reverse of 2002 and 2006

I have to say, I always admired Sven's qualifying record, but then I still can't believe just how clueless we looked in 2006 after he picked just THREE strikers including a 17 year old and had them playing ridiculously negative football. :nono:

Since then, he's f***ed up pretty much everything he's touched. It's a shame, because Ivory Coast would be qualla with a proper manager.

Talking of Germany's group, I always thought the Aussies would be dark horses there, BUT they did look total shite against NZ on Monday night and were apparently taken apart by the Dutch a while back (although it finished 0-0).

So while they look pleasingly gash, I'd never write them off. They won't be as crap as that when the tournament starts.
